Career Opportunities (1991, Jennifer Connelly)
I'm surprised we haven't seen a SE of this. It was written and produced by John Hughes and is about a guy in his early twenties, who is about to be kicked out of his parents' house because he can't hold a job. He gets hired at Target on the night maintenance shift. In the process, he gets locked in the store overnight with the local beauty. John Candy has a very small, but memorable role as the store manager.
The DVD that's out now was released ten years ago - 1998. It's 2.35:1, but unfortunately non-anamorphic. And the only extras are some production notes and cast bios.

I saw the DVD recently at Walgreens for $3.99. I believe that is an Universal release. Universal prefers to re-release films like Scarface and Fast and the Furious instead of giving a SE treatment to lesser known films. And even when they do special editions, they actually suck, like the Fletch re-release.

I could watch that all day. Jennifer Connelly is one of the sexiest things I have ever seen in this film (and that movie the Hot Spot as well)

This movie, The Hot Spot, and The Rocketeer just might be the best hottest female eye candy trilogy ever made. They're not terrible films either.
Of course I own all three but would gladly double dip if they came to Blu-Ray.

I saw it there too and went apeshit, easily one of my favorite eyecandy movies too. In fact I'm going to get Rocketeer and Hotspot so I can complete my "Touch Myself Trilogy".
What year did Jennifer Connelly get her Breast Reduction Surgery? I think there should be a law passed that makes that kind of thing illegal. Or at least she should have been heavily fined.

Yes...I love this movie! The roller-skating scene is great.
I've looked at the disc a few times on the shelf, but passed due to its non-anamorphic nature.

I love this movie, aside from the obvious eye candy, it's got some great Hughes bittersweet, growing up is miserable stuff in there. My only complaint is that the ending and the heist aspect of it kind of ruin a good thing and make it a little pandering. If this twisted just a little bit and was slightly more serious I think a lot more people would be into this flick.
I saw this in theaters in 1991 (or 92?) and have loved it since.
Although I think it's probably lowest on the totem pole to get an SE treatment out of all the Hughes films.

Quality film. I own the current disc but would easily double dip. If The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles and Weird Science haven't been released as SE's....I wouldn't hold out much hope for this, unfortunately. Ah well, the rocking horse scene is a special feature in its own right

It wouldn't even have to get a special edition treatment. Just re-releasing it as anamorphic would make all the difference in the world!

At least there will always be her half topless scene in "Inventing the Abbots".
I just remember the first time I saw her in "The Rocketeer". She was really hot in that movie.
