Usually it's like a $0.50 to $1.50 refund. This will be the first for me with such a huge savings.

Re: Ally McBeal Coming Soon to DVD

I liked the show until probably the last season... I remember when I was in high school, all the other kids would be watching whatever TV shows were popular at the time,...and I'd be watching Ally McBeal and a bunch of news magazine shows (20/20, Dateline, etc.) I never fit in with the kids at school.

Looking fwd to buying ths tomorrow....local Barnes and Noble stores, Best Buy, and Target are all out of stock, but I just called Target and they said they've been gettng shipments of Ally every day. So I'll be buying it tomorrow.

Re: Ally McBeal Coming Soon to DVD

Could have used an episode guide, but I love the box and the discs arrived without a single one loose. The cover of season 5 is practically soft-core porn!
Sometimes I spend a hundred dollars and feel like I was fleeced, but after getting this, I feel like I got a deal. Really nice set...about time.

Will Amazon's price stay like this for more than a week?
Or will zoom up.

I'd say it'll zoom up to $149.99 which will be 25% off list. $20 a season is the way to go.

Re: Ally McBeal Coming Soon to DVD

still trying to decide whether to order it from Target online? In-store last night they said they get trucks coming in every night but they never know what's on them 'til they arrive.... and there is no Target, Best Buy, Borders or Barnes and Noble near me that has the complete series in stock. The closest place to get it would be a two hour drive, which I'm certainly not doing.
If I can't get it in-store by tomorrow, I'll just order it online.

Don't order from Target online. You'll pay shipping and maybe tax. Order from Amazon.. free shipping.

Re: Ally McBeal Coming Soon to DVD

Anyone else having trouble playing these? It works on my laptop just fine, but when I put in any of the discs in my Samsung blu-ray player, it freezes on the FBI warning screen, and I can't get it to do anything.

Re: Ally McBeal Coming Soon to DVD

Just got off the phone with Samsung, and apparently the freezing discs is a general problem across several of their players. They don't know what's causing it, but they're working on finding a fix.

Re: Ally McBeal Coming Soon to DVD

As I just posted in the DVD Bargains thread on this subject, Costco is currently selling the complete series set in-store for $99.XX, and unlike Amazon & Target, it's very unlikely that price will "zoom up" on Sunday.

Re: Ally McBeal Coming Soon to DVD

I did get my refund notice from Amazon for my pre-order as I expected. $25 off of where I had my order locked in at. (plus another 50 cents off of my Bones season 4 pre-order. Woo-Hoo!)

For those curious about the packaging:

The box is very sturdy cardboard, and the cases are the standard size DVD cases stacked side by side, 3 cases deep. Each with six discs inside (except the bonus discs case which only has two, as mentioned before). The second pic shows the cases partly out, with season 3 and the bonus discs cases opened.

Re: Ally McBeal Coming Soon to DVD

I found one of these at the Glen Mills, PA Target. I already have the UK set so I just thought I'd give a heads up to anyone on the hunt for it. Looks very cool.

How's the video quality? I haven't seen any reviews posted online yet.

thanks. I actualy went ahead and price comparisoned this morning and noticed that, ordered from Amazon. Gotta love free shipping!! Another reason I love Amazon.

By the way, I second the person who asked about the quality of the video? I've been reading many different things on the IMDB forum... about some seasons being in fullscreen, others in widescreen. I'm hoping that the whole thing's in FS in the US. version but I wanted to ask and be sure?
also...Amazon, BB, TVShowsonDVD, and Wiki don't have a list of the special featurs. anyone care to share what those are?

Re: Ally McBeal Coming Soon to DVD

I'll be posting a review on my site soon (most likely Monday), but season one is full screen, seasons 2-5 are widescreen. Extras are a new documentary, vintage featurettes, the PRACTICE crossover episode, and a music video.

I was shocked to see the complete set on sale at Costco for $119.99 Canadian.

Here's a pic of all 6 covers (includes the bonus disc)

And a closer look at the alleged "soft-core porn":

I wouldn't call that "soft porn".

nor would I.

I was reading the tracklisting for the CD and found it to be very disappointing. I mean sure all the previous soundtracks are now out of print but they diden't have to make a "best of" collection. I would've prefered a CD with all previously unreleased songs.
