I just thought of something, Zack and Miri also counts since it takes place the day before Thanksgiving and then for some time after that as well.

There are lots more than that of course, since many are broken down into shorter length sets, and you could also search "holiday" or "Thanksgiving", etc etc etc

Until this challenge I never really noticed how many films have one Christmas scene (that wouldn't count for the challenge.) I recently sold some laserdiscs & wanted to watch them before I shipped & one after another (that the story spanned a large amount of time) featured a Christmas scene...

Re: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like The 5th Annual Holiday Movie Challenge (11/23-1

I'm having fun this year (so far) finding episodes of shows I've never seen. I have more than enough time this year, but this free time is making me want to watch a ton right now, and there's still over 3 weeks until Christmas and I want to save some for December. I'm saving the favorites for later in December, It's a Wonderful Life, Home Alone, The Santa Clause, He-Man She-Ra Christmas Special, Miracle on 34th Street, etc. But it's hard to do, December 1st will be saved for Silent Night, Deadly Night 3, 4 & 5 when I buy that, I tend to not watch horror movies this time of the year, but I'm thinking about watching Black Christmas today at some point, not sure if I will or not.

^ I always watch my favorites more than once.

HA! A Happy accident. Picked up Popeye's Voyage The Quest for Pappy for $2 at Big Lots, didn't know it was set at Christmastime, and its at Sea! Didn't think I'd get to cross that off the checklist. Plus it has the Popeye Christmas short Spinach Greetings in the extras. Score!

I'm leaning towards a holiday horror weekend marathon at some point. Have maybe 15 of the films in that list we put together.

Awesome find! I'll check my Big Lots tonight. Wait, Sunday, they'll be closed early I guess. Monday then!

Watched Gremlins with my two daughters (7 & 9) and they loved it! Makes me wish Hollywood would make more dark family films. I believe there is a market for family 'horror' movies.

Thanks! It makes for a big mess in the edit box, but I'm glad it comes out looking nice in the end.

Just had a serendipitous moment. Called and found that Big Lots had late holiday hours. Arrived to find perhaps the largest selection of DVDs I've ever seen there. The very first DVD in the very first row I looked at was the quoted Popeye Christmas DVD. Spent 20 minutes browsing all the bins, and there were no other copies.

What are the chances of that? The one DVD I went there to find being the first DVD I lay eyes on, and it being the only copy out of perhaps 3,000 DVDs? I should have bought a lottery ticket on the way home.

I agree. I'll also recommend this if you can find it.

Shadow Zone: My Teacher Ate My Homework

What I'd really like is for Full Moon to release some box sets of the stuff they put out under their kids production company. There's a bunch of things in the same vein as the above movie.

Flipping channels figuring I'd find a basketball game or end up on MNF. Glad to catch these back-to-back.

Fear.net is streaming the full movie of Christmas Evil aka You Better Watch Out for free, for all you fellow Christmas horror fans.

Synopsis: As a boy, Harry watched as his dad, dressed as Santa, made love to his mom. Now Harry has issues: He sleeps in a Santa suit and spies on the neighbor kids to see who’s been good. And he's ready to punish the bad ones.

^ I'm still trying to track down the first two... or at least the first one. My library can't seem to get them, even from another library. I've been trying for a year. I wish I had the money to rejoin Netflix.

I think the double feature DVD is out of print. Makes me happy I got mine when it first came out. Though the first one is the only one that matters anyway, the 2nd one is mostly flashbacks to the first one anyway.

Thanks, I'll have to track this down. My girls love scary movies... as long as they're not too scary.

Watched Wind Chill with my wife yesterday. I really love that film, what a nice sleeper movie for a dark Dec. night.

I have to admit I've never seen SNDN 3 - 5, but after watching them I have to ask... What the fuck is going on here??

Ricky goes from being a psycho killer in part 2 to being a monster in part 3 to being some freak job in a cult in part 4 to being a mall Santa in part 5? What's up the giant bugs? I just don't understand this franchise one bit

Re: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like The 5th Annual Holiday Movie Challenge (11/23-1

Rather than start another thread, since this is the discussion forum, what are everyones top 5 or ten christmas television episodes? (yeah I didn't do a search either) Mine are

1. MASH - Death Takes A Holiday - after MASH jumped the shark, but great A & B story - perfection.
2. Happy Days - Guess who's coming to Christmas - Tainted only because the marred dvd release
3. WKRP - Jennifer's home for Christmas - I love the twist on the "someone's going to be alone" cliche.
4. Married With Children - You Better watch out - still funny after countless viewings
5. South Park - Red Sleigh Down
6. Friends - Holiday Armadillo - suffers only from weak B story
7. Everybody Loves Raymond - Christmas Present
8. Family Guy - Freakin Christmas
9. Brady Bunch - Voice of Christmas - sappy, but still great
10. Xena Warrior Princess - A Solstice Carol -Santa, scrooge, Nativity, evicting orphans, all rolled into one story

Edit : Crap! Forgot about Moonlighting- "twas the Episode before Christmas... have to drop something...

Here are mine, in alphabetical order. It was hard enough limiting myself to 10, without trying to rank them too...

Frasier: "Merry Christmas, Mrs. Moskowitz"
Friends: "The One with the Holiday Armadillo"
How I Met Your Mother: "How Lily Stole Christmas"
It's All Relative: "The Santa Who Came to Dinner"
The Simpsons: "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire"
Six Feet Under: "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year"
Sports Night: "The Six Southern Gentlemen of Tennessee"
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip: "The Christmas Show"
30 Rock: "Ludachristmas"
Will & Grace: "Jingle Balls"

Re: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like The 5th Annual Holiday Movie Challenge (11/23-1

Looking through my small HD DVD collection last night to see if there was anything to watch, found nothing holiday-ish except the often debated here The Thing. Started it, definitely set in winter in Antarctica. Unfortunately, winter in Antarctica is March through June. So I'm afraid we probably can't really count The Thing.

And in further slightly negative news, just for me personally this time, I bought a bunch of cheap Christmas DVDs online the other day, including one that looked interesting, Fritz the Cat Saves Christmas. Looked through my collection today and see that I had already bought it. Twice.

Re: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like The 5th Annual Holiday Movie Challenge (11/23-1

I'm going to pick up the pace now on TV shows. I'm not sure I have a ton. I know there's quite a few episodes of South Park and Roseanne, but not too many more that I can think of anyway. I'll have to check my list. I'm doing much better this year, I just hit 45 which I didn't even hit last year until December 14th.

What can I say? I'm enjoying the crap out of it this year!
