Every other challenge has this one - Comedy should too! After all there are quite a few award winning comedy films. You could even break this down into one for films and another for TV.

So, does tomorrows theme of sitcoms mean watch enough TV sitcoms for an entry or watch a movie based on a sitcom? If it's the latter, anyone have any recommendations? The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Get Smart and the Sex and the City movies.

Any sitcom will work. It doesn't have to be a movie based off of one. So you can technically knock out two theme days at once if you watch them live tomorrow.

Re: First Ever November Comedy Challenge discussion/suggestions/comments thread
More from my anime collection that qualify as comedy:
Chobits
Genshiken
K-on!
Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi
Mahoromatic
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Sherlock Hound
Tenchi Muyo! (the IMDB entry combines it with Tenchi Universe, which is odd, since they're two different series)
Tenchi Muyo in Love (but NOT Tenchi Forever)
So, the big dilemma for me is what to watch for this challenge, since I have so many unfinished or unstarted anime comedy series. The impulse is to plow through previously seen eps. of "Urusei Yatsura," since it's one of my favorites.
Anime comedy is an acquired taste, so it's hard to figure out what would work for newbies. Since TakingChase is interested in sampling anime comedy, what would be a good place for him to start?
I'd start with the Rumiko Takahashi series, "Ranma ½" and "Urusei Yatsura," since they're so often the entry points for so many new anime fans outside Japan. And they're genuinely funny and wildly imaginative. The earliest "Dragon Ball" episodes are a good place to start also, esp. now that they've got the uncut versions out in their original Japanese. The first wave of "Tenchi Muyo" OAV episodes are good, as well as the follow-up TV series, "Tenchi Universe." Interestingly, the very first Tenchi piece I saw was the movie, TENCHI MUYO IN LOVE, which is a magnificent anime movie, with comedy, romance, action, sci-fi and thriller aspects all rolled seamlessly into one. You needed to know something about the characters and their relationships to fully appreciate it, but it packs quite an impact regardless.

Unrelated from anime, I just made my wife sit down and watch The Jerk for the first time. Even with as many times as I've seen it my jaw is still all sore from laughing the whole movie.
Lastly, keep any challenge related suggestions coming. I've already started compiling all MIA checklist items so I'll be ready to go next year.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I almost feel bad that I don't get into anime as much as I do. I feel like there is this whole world of new viewings I'm missing out on. I plan to try as many series as I can for this challenge in hopes that I'll find one that hooks me in.

Random thought just popped into my head as I was watching some Laurel & Hardy. Shirley Temple should probably be added to that classic comedians checklist item.

Re: First Ever November Comedy Challenge discussion/suggestions/comments thread
I've gotten warmed up so I'll keep going. These guys aren't necessarily comedians/comics but they all made their share of comedies:
Jack Lemon, Tony Curtis, Rock Hudson, Tony Randall, Doris Day, Debbie Reynolds, Donald O'Connor, Danny Kaye, Jean Arthur, Rosalind Russel, Irene Dunne, Loretta Young, Katherine Hepburn.
And there's plenty I haven't listed, but pulling from what I've mentioned should diversify the check list nicely for next year.

November 4 – TGIF – Workplace comedy
I was having a little trouble coming up with something for this, all I could think of was Office Space or The Office.
But then after Googling "Workplace comedy" I realized it doesn't specify Office, which opens up this category quite a bit.
I'm going to watch Empire Records and/or Used Cars. Which ever one I find first.
