Re: 7th Annual Sci-Fi/Fantasy Challenge List Thread

Reserved. My list will teleport itself here.

Title in BLACK = DVD/Bluray from my personal collection.
Title in RED = Seen online (Netflix or Youtube).
Title in BLUE = DVD/Bluray rental.
Title in PURPLE = Seen in movie theatre during it's current theatrical run.

* = First time viewing.
= Seen during its original theatrical run.

July 1
1. Alien: Resurrection
(1997) Extended cut from the Alien Anthology Blu Ray Box Set. My favourite of all the Alien sequels, yes even above Aliens since I feel that this instalment blend all of the elements of the previous Alien films: Horror, SF, Action and character development. The CGI is thankfully used only sparingly so it does not feel dated at all and the (literal) evolution of the Ripley character makes this one stand out. Nothing compares to the first one of course but this one is pretty damn good.
2. The Beast Within: Making Alien / Enhancement Pods* (2010) Extensive "making of" documentary included in the special features of the Alien Anthology Blu Ray box set. Quite in-depth interviews with practically everybody involved that really give you a feel of the origin of the film and its creation.

July 2
3. Superior Firepower: Making Aliens
* (2010) Behind the scenes look at the making of Aliens from the Alien Anthology Blu Ray Box Set. By all accounts James Cameron is brilliant but also an asshole.
4. Last Days on Mars* (2014) Since this film is recent I will not go into the plot as to avoid spoilers. Suffice to say that I expected more from it.

July 3
5. Dreamcatcher
(2003) I decided to rent this to give it another shot but it's only marginally more interesting than the first time I saw it when I found it rather lacking and disjointed. First we have an intimate story of four friends whir share bond create by a special needs child they met when they were kids and then the movie goes into military mode with a secret army tasked with fighting an alien invasion. Based on the novel by Stephen King (which I started reading but never finished). Some interesting concepts but as a whole it just didn't do it for me.

July 4 - Christopher Walken double feature!
6. Brainstorm
(1983)
7. Communion* (1989)
8. Iceman (1984) Timothy Hutton discovers a frozen Neanderthal who is brought back to life. While some scientists want to dissect him in order to find an anti-freezing agent that would prolong life, Hutton wants to keep him alive so we can learn about ourselves. John Lone stars as the Caveman and gives an excellent performance.

July 5
9. Fantastic Voyage
(1966) A classic that looks fantastic on Blu Ray. This is what's missing from movies nowadays - a sense of wonder. When the crew of the Submarine go into the human body there is a sense of going where no-one has gone before and we are along for the ride. The characters are awed by their voyage and so are we. Compare that to the "business as usual" attitude of modern SF characters and you'll see what I mean.

July 6- Nothing

July 7
10. Source Code
(2011) (Not from my personal collection. Seen as an "in-flight movie" during a bus trip) Interesting story that mixes time travel and virtual reality.

July 9
11. Pacific Rim
(2013) Guillermo del Toro's ode to Japanese monster movies complete with cardboard characters. A visual feast that never takes itself too seriously.

July 10-11 - Nothing

July 12
12. The Six Million Dollar Man
, S2 (1974) Episodes: Nuclear alert / The pioneers

July 13
13. The Six Million Dollar Man
, S2 (1974) Episodes: Pilot error / The Pal-Mir escort

July 14
14. The Six Million Dollar Man
, S2 (1974) Episodes: The seven million dollar man / Straight on 'til morning The beautiful Meg Foster stars in this las one as an alien stranded on Earth. One of the episodes with a much more Science Fiction slant.

July 15
15. The Six Million Dollar Man
, S2 (1974) Episodes: The Midas touch / The deadly replay In the latter episode, Steve Austin is aced to one again fly the experimental aircraft that he once crashed in and gave him his bionic limbs.

July 16
16. Fringe
*, S4 (2012) Episodes: Everything in its right place / The consultant

July 17
17. The Six Million Dollar Man
, S2 (1974) Episodes: Act of piracy / stranger in broken fork

July 18
18. Fringe
*, S4 (2012) Episodes: Letters of transit / Worlds apart

July 19
19. The Six Million Dollar Man
, S2 (1974-75) Episodes: The peeping blonde / Cross-country kidnap In the former episode Farrah Fawcett (Lee Majors' real life wife at the time) stars as a snoopy reporter out to get the scoop on Steve Austin's bionics. In the latter episode Donna Mills (she of the luminous eyes) stars as a computer programmer who is the target of kidnapping.

July 20
20. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
* (2014) Now THIS is what a Planet of the Apes movie is supposed to be! Yes, I liked Rise but I felt it just was tot far removed from what I love about the Apes movies since it was basically only the origin of the story. Now we see the apes organised into a rudimentary society and doing things we saw them do in the original series like riding horses and using guns.
21. Total Recall(2012) Not really a remake since it bears only a passing resemblance to the original film but it doesn't matter since it's a pretty good movie in it's own right. The only weak spot is Bryan Cranston as a totally one-dimensional villain but other that that everyone does a great job especially Kate Beckinsale as a relentless agent out to kill Colin Farrell's character.
22. Decoys 2: Alien Seduction* (2007) I have not seen Decoys 1 though I'm sure I'm not missing much. Bought this one dirt cheap at a video rental place that was going out of business just because it has the lovely Dina Meyer in it and the promise of boobs. What I got was only a handful of scenes with Dina Meyer and very little nudity. The plot is a combination of really bad teen comedy and a Species rip-off that does not deliver on either side.

July 21
23. The Six Million Dollar Man
, S2 (1975) Episodes: Lost love / The last Kamikaze The former is an uneasily sentimental episode where Steve Austin rekindles an old flame.

July 22-25 - Nothing

July 26
24. Beneath the Planet of the Apes
(1970) The best of all the Apes sequels.
25. Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971) Roddy McDowall returns as Cornelius along with Kim Hunter as Zira as they travel back in time to 1971 and are treated to the same kind of scrutiny that they themselves placed upon humans.

July 26
26. Justice League: War
* (2014) The origin of the Justice League in the New 52 DC Universe.
27. The Six Million Dollar Man, S2 (1975) Episodes: Return of the robot maker / Taneha In the former episode a villain from Season 1 returns and this time he makes a robot Oscar Goldman so we get a cool Steve Austin vs Robot Oscar fight at the end.

July 27
28. The Six Million Dollar Man
, S2 (1975) Episodes: Look alike / The E.S.P. spy

July 28
29. Transcendence
* (2014) Johnny Depp is uploaded into a computer and becomes sentient. Boring.

July 29
30. Solaris
* (1972) Incredibly slow-paced (even by European film standards), this movie is nonetheless strangely engaging and delivers an SF story removed from the technology-loving, laser blast-spewing, green aliens seen in most western movies. it can be a chore to sit through (I saw it over the course of two days) but once the beautiful Natalya Bondarchuk as the alien construct Hari appears on the scene the movie becomes more watchable.

July 30
31. Solaris
(2002) A more tightly-scripted and better paced version than the Russian movie of the same name. The story remains mostly the same - a psychiatric travels to a space station orbiting an alien planet and finds that the planet has a strange effect on the crew. George Clooney delivers a pretty good performance and carries the film nicely.

Re: 7th Annual Sci-Fi/Fantasy Challenge List Thread

Goal:
60 Movies

Legend:

* = FTV

Wife's Thoughts In Blue
- July 1st -
1.) - 4.)
The Event S01E01-08 (2010) (DVD)*
My Thoughts: NBC's answer to Lost is somewhat compelling but feels very dated and derivative of it's peers. It almost feels like a lower-end X-Files spin off. And, while entertaining, I have yet to get that 'oh my god I have to watch the next episode' feeling. So I can see why it only made the one season. I was way more invested in one season Lost clone FlashForward than with this. Who knows though maybe it will pick up a bit, and hey it's was only $5 for the entire series at Big Lots, so entertainment per dollar value is pretty good.
(3.5 out of 5)
- July 2nd -
5.) - 11.)
The Event S01E09-22 (2010-2011) (DVD)*
My Thoughts: Hey Tulsa! A lot of the characters are starting to actively annoy me at this point. And I think if I had been watching this first run I would not be so inclined to continue catching episodes. For a show about an alien invasion this is really standard terrorist stuff. It was passable but I am somewhat relieved to be through this content. If you are pondering getting this might I recommend instead trying Terra Nova, FlashForward, First Wave or even Jericho. The last episode goes out with a bang but it too little too late.
(3 out of 5)
12.)
Outland (1981) (Blu-Ray)*
My Thoughts: How have I never seen this before? It's like a movie set in the Alien universe without the Aliens. Add to that; Sean Connery, killer future 5hr Energy & multiple scanner style decompression explosions and you have a pretty fun little movie. Most of it doesn't really hold up to cross examination but it doesn't have to. It was oddly fitting that I stayed up way too late to watch this movie, didn't get enough sleep and had to dose myself with 5hr Energy just make it though the day. 2 bottles later I can relate to the guys who flipped out in the movie.
(4 out of 5)
- July 3rd -
13.)
Virtual Encounters (1996) (DVD)*
My Thoughts: What? Isn't everyone watching softcore pseudo sci-fi straight to video trash this challenge? Using a very VR-5 rig a woman gets to work out her sexual proclivities. How come the whole internet visor thing from the 90's never really panned out? It seemed so much like the future at one point. On a studio level I do have fond memories of renting several of these Surrender Cinema movies as a kid. Back when the internet was dial up, this is what you watched. It was trash but fun to relive again, even if my wife did keep walking by and making fun of me.
(3 out of 5)
14.)
Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes (2011) (Blu-Ray)**
My Thoughts: I can't believe I have waited so long to see this. A fantastic reboot of the series that combines a little Contagion with Link, Monkey Shines, Spider-Man and of course a healthy dose of it's namesake. I would have really liked this to be a hard R, it would have played much more menacing and have been way more effective in my opinion. They skirted with chimp rage a bit in this but didn't even close to the horror stories you hear about. I am officially pumped to see the sequel.
(4 out of 5)
My Wife's Thoughts: Great movie, I enjoyed a lot. I want to see sequel. Sometime animal is smarter... no a lot of time animal is smarter than human being. But human does not know that. I want to have Caesar, ride Caesar's back.
(4 out of 5)
- July 4th -
15.)
Commentary For Outland (1981) (Blu-Ray)*
My Thoughts: A bit of a bland commentary that mostly boiled down to 'I loved working with Sean Connery' punctuated by long stretches of silence. A few interesting remembrances here and there but not really worth a listen. Now if Connery had done the commentary... has he? I need to look that up now.
(2.5 out of 5)
- July 5th -
16.)
The Wolverine (Extended Cut) (2013) (Blu-Ray)*
My Thoughts: I watched The Wolverine in the theater for the last Summer Sci-Fi challenge but going back to see what I said about it I see that I fell off the horse in regards to reviews. I can say that this movie is deeply satisfying, having my favorite comic book protaganist in my favorite country and this extended cut was no different. I kept waiting to see scenes that meandered a bit too long or had weird audio queues but everything fit quite nicely, this should have been the release product. Nothing crazy amazing like some of the deleted scenes in Shyamalan's early movies (22 seconds), regardless it is a better fleshed out story now. This is a movie that speaks to me.
(4.5 out of 5)
- July 6th -
17.)
Commentary For The Wolverine (2013) (Blu-Ray)*
My Thoughts: Ah now here is a commentary, excellent running dialog about the feature with a lot of insight into story and themes. Personally I prefer on set remembrances but it is fitting for a property like this.
(x out of 5)
- July 7th -
18.) - 22.)
Planet Of The Apes S01E01-08 (1974) (DVD)*
My Thoughts: Kind of like The Incredible Hulk tv series, if the Hulk was an astronaut set down in the Planet of the Apes. This time around the humans can talk and are more of a slave class, with lots of parallels to modern slavery. There is even an instance where an ape puts on white face and pretends to be a human. A very satisfying series for fans of the franchise even if it is obviously done on the cheap. I really like the seed they planted with the advanced civilization leaving technology cashes, kind of reminds me a bit of Fallout. This show is really growing on my but I am a bit depressed that there are only 6 more episodes.
(3.5 out of 5)
- July 8th -
23.) - 25.)
Planet Of The Apes S01E09-14 (1974) (DVD)*
My Thoughts: A few more decent episodes, this could have been a great tv series if they had gone a little more plot based with the trying to find all the old technology caches. And maybe they would have if the show had gone on longer than half a season. As it was though they were still interesting one off episodes. The problem with this series as opposed to the movies is having the humans being more than beasts. Just like with the 2001 remake it just didn't make sense that humans would be so docile under such servitude. Still, required viewing for any Planet of The Apes Fan.
(3.5 out of 5)
- July 9th -
26.)
The Monster That Challenged The World (1957) (DVD)*
My Thoughts: Reminded me heavily of The Creeping Terror, only bearable. Everyone's reaction to the creature is laughably bad but otherwise this faired so much better than former. There was one thing that bothered me though, why did no one in the Navy have a gun? I know it was primarily featured Navel Intelligence but still the lack of shooting rather lumber-some creature seemed like a pretty major oversight. As far as schlocky 50's monster movies go this one is towards the top of the heap.
(3 out of 5)
- July 10th -
27.)
Total Recall (Extended Director's Cut) (2012) (Blu-Ray)*
My Thoughts: I think I could have quite enjoyed this movie if it hadn't tried to be a remake of one of the great Verhoeven films. Great effects, a fantastic future chase scene that I think easily outdid the one in Minority Report and I loved the dystopian setting and Orson Wells-esk big brother government. But it seemed that every time it hit a plot point from the original I got more and more disappointed. A wasted chance at great sci-fi, I think I need to go watch the original again.
(3 out of 5)
- July 11th -
28.) - 30.)
The Infinite Worlds of H.G. Wells Parts I-III (2001) (DVD)*
My Thoughts: I rather enjoyed this, a collection of sci-fi period piece short stories woven together by this HG Wells as sort of old school paranormal investigator plot device. Had a charming old school British TV feel with some compelling stories. Are these all Well's short? Because if so I need to start reading some HG Wells.
(4 out of 5)
31.)
Total Recall (1990) (DVD)
My Thoughts: First off, I have a love hate relationship with this unique DVD case. I love how it's so kooky and it's got the then omnipresent mars face but it's impractical to store unless you intend on displaying it. There is really no comparison here, this version is vastly superior. It's more interesting, has cooler locals/effects and you really feel that R rating after watching the punch happy, bloodless PG-13 remake. I would love to see an extended unrated cut of this film. I mean really, you have a midget prostitute shooting at Michael Ironside with a machine gun. Winner: 1990's version.

Commentary For Total Recall (1990) (DVD)
My Thoughts: Having both Verhoeven & Schwarzenegger would seem like a commentary slam dunk, but this unfortunately is not the case. There is about 10-15% of interesting good commentary here. The rest is Verhoeven droning on about character motivation and plot points. A commentary cardinal sin. Right up there with people having conversations about not spoiling the movie during the commentary and long stretches of silence. Should have had Stone and Schwarzenegger in the room.

Europa Report (2013) (Blu-Ray)*
My Thoughts: Coming out at approximately the same time as Apollo 18, the big question is which one was better. While technically this movie probably was better I personally had a better time with Apollo 18. Both are riddled with scientific inaccuracies but I loved the seventies throwback feel of Apollo 18 as opposed to the slicker more modern Europa Report. Both had similar disappointing endings but then again I guess that is a pretty big aspect of the found footage genre. It hit the space itch I was having but was otherwise unremarkable.

34.) - 35.)
Invasion Parts I-II (1997) (DVD)*
My Thoughts: This was pretty bad, although with a first credit like Luke Perry what do you really expect? Horrible effects & acting, super cliched plot and lots and lots of back lot shots. It did have a 90's Kim Cattrall, I was pretty into her before she ruined her b-movie cred with Sex And The City. This has so far been the low point in the challenge and hopefully it will stay that way.

R.I.P.D. 3D (2013) (Blu-Ray)**
My Thoughts: The plot of this movie was pretty run of the mill. I can think of 3 tv shows off hand that used the exact same premise. It was still a fun ride, a bit on the dumb side but fun. There is one notable exception to pleasing mediocrity and that was Jeff Bridges. He plays this amazing creepy Old West sheriff asshole that completely steals the show and even warrants this movie as something I plan on re-watching in the not to distant future.
(3.5 out of 5)
My Wife's Thoughts: This is good movie but seems almost like Men In Black 3. It's go back in the time and try to find the stuff. And Kevin Bacon alway be a bad guy now, I can't understand why. Funny ne? holding the banana.
(4.5 out of 5)
37.)
Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea (1961) (Blu-Ray)*
My Thoughts:I rather liked this movie. There is something so charming about these 60's epics. The effects are just past that 50's ultra camp point and the plots are somewhat more realistic. Somewhat. I am not quite sure how the science on the Van Allen Radiation Belt catching fire would work but hey they are trying. And this was pre moon landing after all. A pleasant 60's mix of Armageddon and Jewels Vern.

- July 14th -
38.)
Fantastic Voyage (1966) (Blu-Ray)*
My Thoughts: I can't believe I haven't seen this before. It may be one of the most referenced sci-fi movies of all time. Everything from The Magic School Bus to Family guy has done a take on this premise. That being said it did not quite live up to what I had envisioned for this piece. It was entertaining but not captivating in a what that say Journey To The Center of the Earth or Bottom Of The Sea were. I will have to watch it again with an altered perspective in the future but until then it was a bit of a let down.

39.)
Virtual Encounters 2 (1998) (DVD)*
My Thoughts: While it might seem like I am just being sarcastic here considering the subject matter I would like to assure you that I am being serious. OK, this movie pales in comparison to the original. Yes there is lots of sex scenes and yes that is essentially what anyone watching this is probably wanting. But by gender shifting the main character here I think you loose all pretenses in having a serviceable plot. A couple of guys with the sex visor is just kind of seedy, now if it had been done as a sex comedy then maybe. But in all reality if a guy had one of these he would lock the door and use it until he starved to death. It just doesn't feel right not having a female lead in this, shall we say, skinamax style feature. Also it was weird that they did the reverse porn thing to pad out time, having a clip show of sensual scenes, scenes you just watched, at the end of the movie. Is it weird that this is my longest review?

40.)
Fortress (1992) (Blu-Ray)*
My Thoughts: For some reason or another I never had a chance to catch this perpetual bargain bin title. And now I am wondering what other little bits of awesome I have been missing out on all these years. Super cheesy future jail movie with Christopher Lambert, the bad guy from Robocop, Jeffery Combs and even an actor from the first title I watched this challenge; The Event. With the notable exception of Lockout I can't think of a sci-fi future jail movie that I haven't liked. Now I need to hunt down the sequels.

41.)
Jumper 3D (2008) (Blu-Ray)*
My Thoughts: It's happened. I have double dipped on a blu-ray. And of all things that blu-ray was of Jumper. The movie was enjoyable enough, especially when you get use to Christensen, but I didn't really get that 'wow 3d' feeling from it. I would still prefer the 3D version but they didn't carry over the special features, so now I am going to be that guy with 2 copies of Jumper in his collection. I had a thought this time while watching that if I had this power I would work for NASA. Just have them take me to the moon once and then I would start jumping supplies up there and we could get a moon base going in no time.
(3.5 out of 5)
42.)
Alien Contamination (1980) (DVD)*
My Thoughts: This was kind of B-tastic. An alien rip off shot and scored like an Italian horror movie, set in New York and South America. I got this as part of some Mill Creek Sci-Fi 20 pack but now I am really considering buying the stand alone release of this from Blue Underground. And those eggs, I am still hearing those eggs.
(4 out of 5)
- July 17th -
43.)
Planet Outlaws (1952) (DVD)*
My Thoughts: a bunch of old 30's Flash Gordon serials shoddily edited down into a 'movie'. I have yet to see any old sci-fi serials I really liked and this is no exception to that. It was boring, super jumpy due to the way it was presented and was probably just as disappointing now as it was to people when it was repackaged in '52.
(1 out of 5)
44.)
Commentary For Predator 2 (1990) (Blu-Ray)*
My Thoughts: There were two commentary tracks on this disc and my reaction about 1/3rd of the way though this was: I chose poorly. This is probably why I never listen to writers tracks. Lots of dead air and banal observations. The interesting parts of this track could be edited down to a 5-10 min scene specific featurette. Lets hope the other track fares better.

45.) - 48.)
Terra Nova S01E01-08 (2011) (DVD)
My Thoughts: Looking back over some of my reviews for this show during the 2011 October Horror Movie challenge, I would have to say I disagree with several of the stances I took previously. Most specifically about wanting this to be Lost. True it wasn't Lost but it didn't need to be. There was still plenty of intrigue and for what it was it was a really good show. A one seasoner that should have kept going.
(4 out of 5)
- July 19th -
49.) - 51.)
Terra Nova S01E09-13 (2011) (DVD)
My Thoughts: This entry also includes commentary on the last episode. And apparently at the time of recording they were unaware that the show had been canceled. There were some hints as to what season 2 would have held but no where near the level of spoilers there would have been if they had known their fate. Great series end and while it did leave me wanting more it didn't leave it hanging in a Sarah Connor Chronicles way.
(4 out of 5)
52.)
Avatar 3D (2009) (Blu-Ray)
My Thoughts: Seeing as how Commander Taylor in Terra Nova is really just a slightly toned down version of the badass Lang plays here I just had to watch this again. This is the first time I have seen this since originally seeing it in the theater and man am I glad I bought a 3D TV! I am a bit bummed that I couldn't get the Extended Edition in 3D but it is still a fantastic movie, even if it has become the cool thing to hate.
(5 out of 5)
- July 20th -
53.)
Cloud Atlas (2012) (Blu-Ray)*
My Thoughts: How did this not do better? A century spanning interconnecting anthology that ends in a very satisfying sci-fi finale. Epic in scope and oh so satisfying. I had to look up a few of the bad reviews just for counterpoint because I liked it so much. The main point in their argument seemed to be they didn't like the theme of interconnected-ness/previous lives. And yes I agree that bit is somewhat silly but really thats not seeing the forest for the trees. On a quality to public approval scale this heavily reminds me of Waterworld and The Postman (but easily bests those titles).
(4.5 out of 5)
- July 21st -
54.)
The Terminal Man (1974) (DVD)*
My Thoughts: I let myself anticipate a plot based on the cover that this title came no where close to fufilling. There was a lot of 'oh hey, that guy' but that is about it. It was the slowest paced movie of the challenge, barely qualified as sci-fi and it put me to sleep. And worst off all it was a burn on demand title.
(1.5 out of 5)

Star Worms II: Attack Of The Pleasure Pods (1985) (DVD)*
My Thoughts: Mind numbingly awful.

56.)
Monsters Vs. Aliens 3D (2009) (Blu-Ray)
My Thoughts: As usual with these animated features the 3D was fantastic. And I really dug the 50's sci-fi throwback style on this one. But thew movie was geared a bit younger and as a result was somewhat less appealing than something like Megamind or anything Pixar.

Commentary For Godzilla (1954) (Blu-Ray)*
My Thoughts: Fantastic commentary with loads of great behind the scenes, cultural and political analysis. It almost feels like I took a class on the subject. I love commentaries like this, this ranks right up there with the Briggs commentary on I Spit On Your Grave. And the best part is at the very end where he says I am not quite finished talking so if you go to the supplements you will find a different cut of the movie and another commentary!

My Wife's Thoughts: Seems like John Travolta movie… I forgot the title.. some revenge movie… Punisher. Punisher and Ghost Riders put together and I don’t understand why John Malcovich always always creepy murder now. I know he is creepy but he is not the murder before he is always always 100% creepy murder now. Megan Fox did good job. This is not Sci-Fi category. That Jonha Hex guy is No Country For Old Men right? I like the doggy following him. 4 star. Short enough good story.

Re: 7th Annual Sci-Fi/Fantasy Challenge List Thread

1) Surrogates (2009) DVD 06/30/2014 - Weird how this movie came out months apart from similar little movie called Avatar....but this movie is more about tech addiction. 80/100
2) The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005) DVD 07/01/2014 - Great book that I read multiple times. Expectations were low for this first watch, but pleasantly surprised. Not as bad as comments on forums made it seem. 90/100
3) Armageddon (1998) DVD 07/02/2014 - Ben Affleck best summarizes this movie with his famous quote: "I asked Michael why it was easier to train oil drillers to become astronauts than it was to train astronauts to become oil drillers, and he told me to shut the fuck up" 69/100
4) Repli-Kate (2002) DVD 07/03/2014 - Movie is like Weird Science, but clone goes naughty. 81/100
5) Escape From New York(1981) LD 07/09/2014 - Manhattan NY is turned into a prison. It is up to Snake the former Disney actor Kurt Russell to rescue the president after a plane crash right in the middle of NY Prison. 85/100
6) Abraxas Guardian of the UniverseVHS (1990) 07/12/2014 - Wrestler Jesse "The Body" n "The Governor" Ventura playing a guardian way before Batista. 79/100
7) Velocity Trap(1999) VHS 07/13/2014 - Special FX were good for a B type movie. 84/100
8) Star Wars(1977) LD 07/15/2014 - It has been a few years since I last watched. So much ahead of its time for 1977. 100/100
9) The Empire Strikes Back(1980) LD 07/19/2014 - I am starting to see why people say this is better than Star Wars. Not sure if better but equally great. 100/100
10) Return of the Jedi(1983) LD 07/21/2014 - Great movie with nostalgic value. 100/100
