So I’m sure this has been mentioned before around here, but it always floors me when, in the original F13, the one girl comes back for her guy in the wheelchair, doesn’t see him right away, so looks for him upstairs.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 15th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I finished up with Howling IV The Original Nightmare. I picked this because my notes from several years ago indicated that I liked this best of the first three sequels and it made for a satisfying finish to the evening. Not a whole lot of werewolf action but a nice, messy transformation near the end after a good slow buildup. I also realized that I never watched the fourth and fifth sequels so I'll have to take care of than during the next full moon.

And another thanks to BobO'Link for the tip on how to change the default editor.

Catching up on the forum since things have been super chaotic lately over here so didn’t watch anything for this bonus day but always enjoy reading posts of what people watched The subsets and themes look cool and looking forward to see how the checklist ends up once it’s completed as well and the challenge will be here before we know it I randomly noticed I can’t link to the # of list post for this year on the list thread in my signature for easy access to edit when I go to click that post it just brings to the entire thread page again not opened to an individual page for each list #’d post like in the past?

The last upgrade of the forum software/settings/whatever changed it to where you can no longer direct link to a single post.

It’s horrible.

Don't forget the real Challenge for October: watch 100 films and read 100 horror comics.

I was surprised to see Synapse releasing it on UHD. When the blu-ray came out, they were saying they wouldn't do it because the cost was too high, but I'm glad they decided to. It would be nice if other boutique labels followed suit. There's a lot of fans out there willing to pay the added cost for these releases, so hopefully they see that money can be made in it.

I only fit in one movie yesterday and I won't be adding it to my list in October. It was The Boy Who Cried Werewolf from 1973 on Scream Blu-Ray. It was about what I expected, the hippie commune in the movie was probably the most enjoyable part. I was surprised that I couldn't find Friday the 13th movies on any of the channels I have. They were on Hulu last I checked but they were removed before the day itself.

Has anyone noticed that in Jason Takes Manhattan Jason actually teleports constantly throughout the movie? Not in a horror movie editing way, but in a "Jason has the ability to teleport kind of way." It happens in almost every kill scene, except for the end when he decides to actually chase the final survivors. It is so prevalent that I actually believe the filmmakers consciously gave him that superpower in this movie.

I was all set to watch Friday the 13th: A New Beginning last night - but I fell asleep shortly after it started! I really need to re-train myself to be able to stay up and watch movies before the challenge starts.

I ended up enjoying the Friday, September 13th Full Moon bonus day much more than I expected - still don't think I'll count the titles but had a blast.

Only going to count them if I’m a few short of 100; otherwise they’ll be listed as bonus.

Enjoyed the day more than I thought too. Watched the first five F13 films and admit to enjoying each, although I was a bit drunk for #5.

Yeah, I've been saying for ages that if these labels would just test the waters by offering a limited run of UHDs of their more popular titles, I guarantee you there would be plenty more than willing to pay the higher costs associated with it. From what I hear Studiocanal has been very successful with their UHD offerings.

And I should have said tripled-dipped because I immediately pre-ordered this limited Italian UHD set from Koch Media with both versions:

Haven't even opened it. I'm contemplating whether or not to sell it, but either way I know the Synapse transfer will blow it out of the water.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 15th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Yesterday I ended up watching The Final Chapter, Jason Takes Manhattan and Howling II. I could have sworn Howling II was a revisit, but turns out it was a first time viewing. Anyway, it was batshitcrazy, but in the best possible way. I remember Christopher Lee saying "the less said the better" when hosting 100 Years of Horror; I had a blast with it.

And bonus: it was one of the titles I picked up in the Hastings going out of business sale, so always a good thing rekindling those memories.

I re-visited the Crystal Lake Memories documentary yesterday, getting through the first disc (nearly 4 hours). It was the first time seeing it since I purchased it in 2013 upon release. Just as enjoyable now, especially all the interviews from actors appearing in the films.

I had planned to watch some of the Howling movies, but I couldn’t quickly find my double feature of the first two. I have the first six . I have 3, 5 and 6 on Blu Ray, and 4 in a multi movie horror pack.

Don't forget # howling 7, which in my opinion is the worst excuse for a horror film in history.

I have several of those long in-depth horror documentaries, but have yet to watch more than a few minutes of any. I really want to, but October comes and I’m scrambling all month to finish all the checklists and subsets and I never want to ‘waste’ the 4-12 hours to get thru one of those packages. Need to make an effort to do so ‘off-season’.

I have the first 2, that's good enough for me.

I love that documentary. I watched it a couple of months back. I had always wondered what became of the cast later in life and it was good to see a lot of them so many years later. Never Sleep Again on the Elm Street series, I believe, is done by the same crew. It's good, too, so I would recommend that one.

That said, I'm currently watching Never Hike Alone for the first time. I generally steer clear of fan films, but this one generated so much buzz, I'm checking it out. It's surprisingly good so far.

Well the bonus day was a cool idea and I watched all three Sleepaway Camp movies for the first time. I immediately thought of The Crying Game with the ending and now I feel like that movie ripped off the first Sleepaway Camp movie. Overall I think the second one was a better movie.

In addition to a Friday the 13th movie, I went to see Tigers Are Not Afraid, which was playing at a theatre in my neighborhood. It's a really interesting film and I'm looking forward to the discussion. Not sure it fits any of the F13 categories, but I'm going to think about if I can include it for bonus day.

I only had time to watch The Howling, on Friday. It definitely got me in the mood for horror and October can't come soon enough.
