Man, I just watched StageFright (1987) tonight. I had a blast with this little Italian slasher! GREAT flick, GREAT synth-y soundtrack.

The Chabrol set has been on my wishlist, and Exotica was a wonderful surprise. Thank you very much for the prize and contest, IBJoel. I'm definitely looking forward to digging in.
I just bought Exotica and it was as good as I remembered from years ago. Great prize package!

I watched some of Leprechaun 2 tonight before heading to bed.

Are they all this bad?

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 18th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I watched two brand new releases tonight. DEADSTREAM on Shudder is awesome. It's about a crazy vlogger who spends the night in a haunted house. He's got a fun schtick and the film stays true to the idea that he's livestreaming this in real time throughout. Great use of found footage. It's more funny than scary, I'd say, but it's really very clever. I gave it 4/5.

The second one was SIGNIFICANT OTHER on Paramount+. It's set during a backpacking trip in the Pacific Northwest, and the scenery is outstanding. The story begins with an asteroid/meteor falling into this remote area so it's not much of a spoiler to say it's about something that was carried on the meteor. It has a few good twists and scares. Worth viewing. I gave it a 3.5/5.

Most of them are worse than that one.

The Leprechaun franchise transcends the word 'bad' in all regards. From the first movie when you see the camerawork on Jennifer Anniston's ass or the way they allow the developmentally disabled adult to be the focus of a young child's abuse or the pogo stick murder (I could go on and on)...you know you're unlikely to ever see a film in this category again... Part 4 and Da Hood films take things to a whole 'nother level of train wreck than the ones that came before.

Thank goodness I don't remember what happened in part 2

Leprechaun 2 is literally the high point in the series.

Also

The Barbarian as a travelog for Detroit? Or an anti-travelog?

And

Are we needing to use a wild card on the Marvel Werewolf property?

Woo-Hoo, it's Zombie Day!

Watching the original "Night/Dawn/Day" trilogy, plus the subset pick, then if there's time, my fave Shaun of the Dead.

What about everyone else?

The Sadness (for the second time) for the subset list
Land of the Dead (2005) and Resident Evil (2002) - both in my quest to complete the They Shoot Zombies list. Haven't seen either one before.
If I have time, I'd like to revisit Jeruzalem (2015), which I like for the religious angle.

Why would you need a wild card on that? It's a werewolf!

Far as I am concerned, you can count anything with a werewolf. Teen Wolf included!

I would even consider Morbius in this realm. It deals with vampirism so it would count. But that is just me...

I was talking about for length, since it is only about 50 minutes and kind of a TV special instead of a feature film.

I thought the rule was anything 45 minutes and over counts as a feature film. Think of all the old 1930s B horror flicks that are only an hour long.

Currently watching Werewolf By Night, but just finished up Odd Thomas. As someone who's read all of the books, Odd Thomas the movie has always been a lot of fun to me and I watch it at least once a year (or more) since its release. It sucks that it had backstage issues which killed the marketing and that Anton Yelchin is not around for even the remote possibility of the rest of the series to be made. He was born to be that character. I don't feel like Addison Timlin was right for Stormy, but I still liked her. Would have liked to have had more of Ozzy. I may go back and give the books another whirl.

From the official rules (Been this for the 13 years I've been a participant):
Movies = 1 entry (despite running time)

TV shows count according to length as they're aired on TV (including commercials):

30 minute shows = ¼ an entry
1 hour shows = ½ an entry
90 minute shows = ¾ an entry
2 hour shows = 1 entry

Mini-Series = 1 entry for each day it aired

Commentaries count. (no restrictions)

Documentaries count.

Trailer Compilations count.
Longer Comps (4+ hours) = 1 entry for every 2 hours

A SLIGHTLY MORE COMPLICATED EXPLANATION:

Concerning TV shows and shorts films:

Like the other challenges, you need four 30 minute shows for 1 entry and two hour-long shows for 1 entry. 30 minute shows typically run roughly 22 - 24 minutes without commercials and hour-long shows are roughly 43 - 45 minutes. If it's short films that are 10 minutes or less, once you hit around 23 minutes of watching them, you've reached one 30 minute show (¼ an entry). Any combination that gets you to 90 minutes can be used for 1 entry. And this is not an exact science, so if you're off by a little it's really no big deal.

When listing the TV shows try to keep them together in 1 entry.
(Example: 30 min show/30 min show/30 min show/30 min show)

For the sake of organization, it's advised that you keep a Temporary TV section at the bottom of your list until you get enough for an entry.

Why 90 minutes? To keep the continuity going with the other challenges.

Yeah that’s why I asked, from the official rules I would take this as a 1/2 entry tv show. But I know a lot of years we count new unique items like this as a whole entry without the use of a wild card.

I was planning to count it as a TV movie.

IMDB lists it as a TV Movie, so why not?

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 18th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I'm planning to watch I WAS A TEENAGED WEREWOLF (1957) on YouTube tonight. It's a shame this movie isn't available anywhere, but low res it is for me. It's one of the films I need to see for the They Shoot Zombies list. If anyone knows where to get a better copy, let me know!

Also planning to see Werewolf by Night on Disney. I thought it was a series, but it looks like a 1-hour stand alone.

I can't believe I'm up to 40 already. I'll probably start slowing down. I'm self-employed, and I took October off after a really busy year. I've been looking forward to this challenge and I've binged so far. But I should get some other stuff done on the house etc during my little "staycation".

Could be wrong, and partially my fault too, but conversation seems way down this year, especially in the subset threads.

Nah, the Challenge will live on. I’ve been hitting it kind of hard the past few days, and I’m finally coming up for air. Seen a few of the newer things all over streaming. Speak No Evil on Shudder was a bit unsettling. It seems to be a critique of the polite Dutch. I watched it back to back with The Sadness, which made for a truly depressing ~3 hours. I really enjoyed No One Gets Out Alive, and I think it was on Netflix. Sitting down to the new Hellraiser right now, then on to that new Werewolf movie that ‘everyone’ is talking about. Saw Mad God late last night, and have no clue what I watched. More in a minute....

Would LOVE to hear thoughts on the new Hellraiser....

I think the Leprechaun movies are fun in a "so bad it's good" kind of way. I don't like the second movie but my favorite of the series is the 3rd movie set in Vegas.
