Rules: Dates: Dusk June 30-Dawn August 1st

Movies/TV shows should be labeled sci-fi or fantasy from either imdb.com or allmovie.com. Other labels don't matter as long as there is at least a sci-fi or fantasy label from one of those sites. Action/Sci-fi would be fine.

If anyone has a problem with something someone watches or just wants an opinion on if it's sci-fi or fantasy or not, ask here.

Sci-Fi/Fantasy documentaries are allowed but not DVD featurettes/interviews. Documentaries include UFO and alien abduction type shows.

As with the other challenges, the lists must be numbered or it won't count.

Use any counting method you prefer, as prize determination does not depend on number of items watched.

3 wild cards for all. Use for those shows you want to watch but know they really don't count but they're pretty close or borderline to counting.

Watching the movie with the commentary will count as an entry.

Watching multiple versions(theatrical and director's cut) of the same movie will also count.

Exceptions: 1: The Tarzan films are eligible to watch and count for the watch list, but not for the check list.
2. Superhero films. If they do not have a sci-fi/fantasy tag, they count for the watch list, but not for the check list.

Sci-fi/Fantasy Radio

I'm treating audio harshly since this is primarily a movie/tv challenge. That being said, one episode, 4 hours with commercials, of Coast to Coast counts as one entry. It's the same format for TV, only doubled. The topic of the show has to be sci-fi/fantasy related, so it shouldn't be that much of a problem with Coast to Coast.

If you're listening to something without commercials, or can skip them, you're looking at 3 hours of audio for one entry.
1/4 entry = 45 minutes without commercials and 60 with commercials.
1/2 entry = 90 minutes without commercials and 120 with commercials.
3/4 entry = 135 minutes without commercials and 180 with commercials.
1 entry = 180 minutes without commercials and 240 with commercials.

1. Soylent Green (1973)-TV:Set in the far future year 2022, Charlton Heston is a cop trying to solve a murder in an over-populated and polluted New York City. The movie is a bit silly in some of its predictions, but while global warming is a serious issue, at least we aren't eating people crackers, yet.

July 2
2. Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1973)-TV:Set in the far future year 1991, Roddy McDowall plays the now-grown child of talking apes from the future who leads a revolution of ape slaves against their human masters. While screenwriter Paul Dehn thought making an explicit racial allegory with the 1965 Watts riots was ap rogressive racial statement in 1972, today it looks stale and offensive.

July 3
3. Johnny Mnemonic (1995)-Criterion Channel: Set in the far future year 2021, Keanu Reeves play a "mnemonic courier", an agent who smuggles data in a neural implant. The movie is supposed to be futuristic but it looks ridiculous today. The writers couldn't even get minor details right. the film opens with Keanu being awakened by an alarm on Thursday, January 17, 2021, but the 17th was a Sunday. A pity the screenwriters didn't use the Internet to check.
4. Radius (2017)-TV-A man survuces a car wreck only to find his presence is lethal to anyone withing 50 feet of him. I

7. Margaux (2022)-TV-A smart house kills off annoying college kids. I'm siding with the house.

9.Earth vs the Flying Saucers (1956)--I never get tired of this flick
10. 65 (2023)-Netflix--a misfire of a movie. Adam Driver is an alien who crash lands on Earth 65 million years ago just in time for Comet Day.

11. Attack of the Crab Monsters (1957)-YouTube-Intelligent giant crabs absorb the minds of the people they eat. This could use a modern remake

12. Avatar: The Way of Water (2023)-Disney+-I was initially skeptical of this sequel to a forgotten film, but it really works. Never underestimate James Cameron.

13. Starship Troopers (1997)--MA-These days I'm unsure if the audience understands that this is a satire of fascism and not an endorsement.

14. Vivarium (2020)--Netflix-The plot about a human couple forced to raise an alien baby in an artificial environment is interesting, but runs out of steam. This would have been better as a Twilight Zone episode because there just isn't enough material to fill the runtime.

15. Crack in the World (1965). Blu-Ray. Another low-budget film that could use a remake with modern special effects

16. Killdozer (1974)--YouTube-It's amazing how made-for-TV movies in the 70s could attract such a roster of excellent character actors.
