I believe that is just a place holder date for the original Die Hards since 11/1 is a Thursday. It's not unprecedented for a Thursday release, but it would be odd.

The movie was a co-production between Miramax and Warner. Warner has the home video rights in North America.

wonder what the audio specs will be: TrueHD for the HD-DVD version, uncompressed PCM for BR - oh the choices....

'Tremors' Coming to HD DVD
August 28, 2007

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced 'Tremors' will be available November 20 on HD DVD for an SRP of $29.98.

Universal typically labels their catalog HD DVD releases by wave within a month. 'Tremors,' however, is not listed with a wave, which leads us to believe it will be the lone HD DVD catalog Universal puts out during November.

'Tremors' will be presented in widescreen 1.85:1 1080p video and offer up Dolby TrueHD 5.1 and Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 audio options. All supplemental material has been lifted from the standard DVD release, including Making Of Tremors; Outtakes; Featurette; Theatrical Trailers; Kevin Bacon Profile; Michael Gross Profile; Reba McEntire Profile; and Production Photos.

I hope all the studios go all out with releases for the holidays. I'm sure we will still see more announcements roll in every week.

I'd hope Universal wouldn't slow down their catalog titles to a trickle so close to the holidays when an aggressive release slate really starts to matter.

The thought process probably is "New high def player owners won't have any discs, so they'll buy what's already on the market".

October 16th? That sounds crazy early - but I"ll be happy if true - I was expecting November. I'll be all over TREMORS depending on reviews, hopefully if Universal can spend the time to make Darkman look decent, they'll give the graboids the proper attention too.

Maybe they are trying to create a buzz ahead of Spidey being released or kill some of the buzz that Spidey would create.

Oct. 16th would be great that's right around the corner. I'd prefer to see it released on a HD-DVD combo only. But what can you do.

I'm not sure if it will be combo. I have heard somewhere before that Paramount was looking at two discs instead for this release.

Paramount has never released a HD DVD combo. I'm glad.
