As of right now, 6-16-07, the Toshiba HD-A2 is only $250.00 on Amazon with the player actually shipping from TigerDirect. Strange thing is if you go directly to TigerDirect's site it comes up at $299.

Is this a decent player? I've been on the verge of finally getting an HD player, & that price sounds hard to pass on, but is it a good one?

The shipping will cost you $14.74. It's a very solid player for the money. I got one from Amazon for $237.88 a couple of weeks ago and have another one on order from Crutchfield for $192.97.

Your options are quite limited if you want an HD-DVD player. But lucky for you, this is an amazing player.

Really? I've ordered quite a bit of PC stuff from them over the years and never had a problem.

I've never used them as I was scarred off by horror stories on sites like AVS and Fatwallet about people never getting stuff, getting stuff damaged etc. etc.

They do have the worst return policy on the planet. Item arrived damaged? you pay return shipping. TD sends YOU the wrong item? You pay return shipping. Real classy operation.

There aren't a lot of choices, and it's the very best one available at that price point.

I have one and love it, but I paid $60 more.

It was $284.37 a few days ago. Amazon was happy to credit my account for that since I bought it a little over a week ago.

If you guys can wait, it looks like the player will drop below $200 bucks by the end of the year according to Toshiba.

I just got the HD-A2.. its an amazing player for both HD dvd and standards dvds. Its one of those things where people tell you how great it is and its actually true.. it certainly blows the picture on both the oppo and HD add on.
I would highly recommend the player.

Just bought mine today for exactly $249.88 with free shipping nonetheless plus i get the free 5 movies deal? Cant get any sweeter than that. I'm just worried about the format war. Cant it end and HD DVD become the sole winner
