Weren't those both filmed in 16mm? I'm not sure how much HD will improve the video quality. In fact, Clerks was shown a few months back on Showtime HD and looked almost the same as the DVD.

Yes, both were shot on 16mm. I think Chasing Amy at least could look better on Blu-ray than it does on DVD.

HiDef may improve the image of the film, but too bad it can't improve the actual overall film.

This and Juno are encouraging signs that we should be getting more non-mainstream movies in the year ahead, at least if they're new releases. I'm hoping Lars and the Real Girl will make it.

Looks like we WILL be getting The Assassination of Jesse James day and date (Feb. 26) on both formats.

Also that day, Beowulf on HD DVD (but no 3D, natch).

I was told today that Eastern Promises HD, The Kingdom HD, and Pan's Labyrinth BD and HD are coming out on Friday, Dec 21.
