More than the 3 million 1.1 players already sold?

Cool, I was going to grab "The Complete Matrix Trilogy" on HD DVD since I didn't want the combo discs of the "Ultimate" edition and I already have the extras from the standard def set anyway, but with last Friday's announcement, eh....
I will just wait now and hope they only release one version on Blu-ray, which should just be the "Ultimate" version with all the extras since they have 20GB of extra space on the discs....I seriously doubt they'll do any kind of re-encode for the video, though they might put PCM audio instead of the TrueHD the HD DVD releases had.....

Take this one with a grain of you know what, but an AVS member posted in the BD30 owners thread that he was at CES and was told by a Panasonic rep that the BD30 would receive a firmware update this year that will enable TrueHD decoding. possibly DTS MA as well. He was told the BD50 is very close in design, and it does look almost identical to the BD30.

The BD50 is supposed to be priced slightly above the BD30, so prices floating around are $549 - $599.
Please let that bit about TrueHD decoding be true! Then I can start bargain shopping for the BD30.

Just got done with 3:10 to Yuma and what a fantastic movie! It's taken Tombstone's place as my top Western. The PQ and AQ is out of this world. Kudos to Lionsgate for doing a good job with this title.

Have you seen The Wild Bunch or Unforgiven (both available on BD)? Both are far superior films to the 3:10 remake and Tombstone, in my opinion.

Personally, I couldn't get into the Wild Bunch, but I heartily second Unforgiven.

I want to see 3:10 to make up my own mind, but I agree on Tombstone and I really like Tombstone. Unforgiven and Wild Bunch are all time classics though and thankfully they and The Searchers are available in highdef.

I think Unforgiven is the greatest western of all time. I love Tombstone and The Wild Bunch too. Im looking forward to seeing 310 this week. I also really liked Open Range...I thought it was very underrated. I bet we will see it on BD soon.

Definitely put The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford on your radar also, if you haven't already.

I just watched the AB/Starz copy of Halloween on my projector. Despite the non-approved coloring issues I was really impressed with how it looks.

For the first time ever I noticed that during the "girls look behind the bushes scene" there are two guys directly in the background on a porch watching them film.

Wick,

Amazon still has Dreamgirls (and many other Paramount Blu-Ray's) in stock. Not Marketplace sellers, Amazon itself.

No, they just figure there might be a run on their titles with the format war practically over. I was wondering about this too, if I should get a disc or two while supplies last. Even if they switch, will they re-press those titles right away or wait?

Repress would be fairly easy I figure.

Yep, this plus cancelling some HD DVD pre-orders freed up some of my 10% discount again, so I used it for those discs before Amazon took it away.

Thanks for the information. I picked it up when it first came out, but I was surprised to see it was out-of-print so soon. But, then I realised that it's because Paramount went HD-DVD.

I just really need to get the Mission Impossible: Ultimate Missions Collection on Blu-ray. I had an unopened copy of that on HD-DVD, but I returned it for store credit. It was purchased over a year ago, haha.
