Agreed. People need to grow skin that's a bit thicker than on the pudding in my fridge. If a poster bothers you so much, then put him on ignore. It's that simple.

Mr. Cinema,

Definitely let us know if you score a copy of the TrueHD version.

It has a different UPC, so I would hope that means online retailers will have to cancel the old listing and create a new one when this starts making it out.

No dice at the other BB. They had 6 copies, all with DD 5.1. I guess I'm going to wait and see if Amazon will have a new listing.

According to DobyBlue on AVS, that time should be around now. It's also on sale for $19.99 this week at Best Buy, so I'm hoping to score a copy today. Was in 1 BB earlier this week, but they only had the DD 5.1 version.
Why would Warner dropping HD DVD mean that Superman Returns would have to carry TrueHD/PCM? Wasn't this planned from the start 9+ months ago anyway?

I think since the hd-dvd version had the truehd version, Mr Cinema is hoping they would speed up the process in having the Superman Returns True HD BD version out in the market now. Frankly I don't see myself double dipping on this title unless Amazon has a sale on it or something.

I'm getting the information from DobyBlue at AVS, who works for Panasonic. He was told that 3 weeks ago, that all of WB's Superman Returns BDs with DD5.1 sound had been sent to all retailers. New stock is supposed to contain the version that was originally packed with the Pioneer player.

My dropping HD DVD line meant that I want all of my WB discs to be BD. Hence the reason why I'm looking for the new version of SR.

Well, alot of us bought the HD-DVD and with the slow demise of it, we are converting some or most of our titles to BD. This is one that I would like to buy, but I too am going to wait until the newer version with the better audio is available.

If I find it at Best Buy today, ill buy a few copies and sell them to people on here who want them (at cost plus shipping only).

Ok, gotcha. So it has Superman having TrueHD right now has nothing to do with dropping HD DVD support then. It just made its way out into retail channels.

I have 2 BBs close to me and I checked one today for the newer Superman Returns BD. They had the old copy only. According to the online inventory, the other one is out of this title, so as soon as they get it in, ill check it out there.

They specifically made the Superman Returns BD with TrueHD/PCM audio just for the Pioneer BD94 player that came out a few months ago. I think the plan had always been for WB to replace the DD5.1 version with this new one.

Hopefully the BB sale this week and the CC sale that starts tomorrow will get rid of a good chunk of those old versions. Someone on AVS had found a copy with TrueHD at BB a few weeks back, but it came out of the Pioneer player. It had a large TrueHD sticker on the front, so maybe the retail versions will also.

Oh, I fully know and understand that. I had thought you were saying that if Warner chose HD DVD that the Blu-ray version would never hit retail stores (even hough they would be in the channels anyway around now). Misunderstanding.

According to the Digital Bits, Fox has delayed Master and Commander on BD till Father's Day to take advantage of Father's Day promotions. This is really starting to piss me off since Master and Commander was my most anticipated catalog out of Q1. Why do you continue to sully your name like this Fox?

Is anyone shocked by this Fox tactic? Fathers day...really? How is this movie a Fathers day movie? How is Amityville being delayed from Halloween month of October to....who knows when a good move? Its either the movie is not finished or they are having production issues.

I've seen retailers in the past have similar Father's Day setups of movies and many included war movies. This isn't surprising.

The Thin Red Line is noticeably (and unfortunately) absent from that promotion.

How is it a father's day movie? Seriously? It's an action movie. Action = Man. Man = Dad.

So delaying a movie (Blu-ray, $39.99 MSRP) a few months into "Fathers Day" will help sell? Why not release it now and just put it up on sale during "Fathers Day". Sorry, I don't buy that excuse at all. Its the same reason they gave for Amityville, but October is the best possible month for it to be released, and it was delayed.

Promotions cost money. If they release it at the best time they only have to promote the movie once.

Giz, aren't you used to BD/HD delay excuses by now? It's been happening for awhile. If it helps the movie to come out with full extras and a quality transfer, I'm all for it.

Likewise, if they want to wait for more players to get in houses, then it just makes business sense.

Again, what promotion would they have? So far, in a year and a half, there has not been a single "themed" promotion from either camp. Simply release the movie now, and then during Fathers Day, have an ad placed in Best Buy that says "Great Fathers Day Movies" along with this title, The Lake House, Crank, and Underworld. Because we all know Fathers love movies about sailing the open seas like they did when they were young

Yes, because that worked so well for Robocop, Man on Fire, Castaway, Mr and Mrs Smith....shall I go on? All movies with 0 to little extras. Why would M&C be any different? How long was Robocop and Man on Fire delayed for? A year?

It's a stripped down disc anyway. I just watched my 1-disc DVD of this a few months back and liked it a lot, and sold the DVD for the eventual BD. Then I found out, normal Fox hackjob on the special features.

EDIT: Yeah, you know this already. I agree, I doubt we'll see the special features added now.

I've tried to boycott the extra-stripped discs. I might still buy this eventually, as it's either the stripped BD or the SE DVD for me. I'll probably wait for a killer deal on it.

Stupid Fox.

Ive been done with Fox for a long time. The only Fox titles I think I own are X-Men III and 28 Weeks Later. Any of the others ones I bought during the BOGO will be traded away for lack of extras.
