Has anyone confirmed if Independence day is the longer, Special Edition or not? Either way, I'm waiting for a B1G1 or price drops. I can't afford anything else this month. Still waiting for my PS3 to come in the mail. How come Amazon ships so much quicker at christmas time when they're 10x as busy? I hate waiting, but I'm saving that Prime trial for when I have (hopefully) $500 or more to blow on movies all at once. Take full advantage. lol

Check the reviews of it...I believe I read its the longer version of the movie sans most of the extras from the various DVD versions (I think there have been 5 or 6 so far).

Gah. I guess I'll be skipping Independence Day. Freakin Fox only released the shorter, Theatrical version according to Hi-Def Digest.

I for one am glad. With very, very few exceptions like Aliens and Abyss, I'd almost always rather have the version I saw in the theater.

Got No Country for Old Men and Dan in Real Life for $16 each using the $10 upgrade coupons. Still on the fence about Dogma since I have the SD SE and I'm desperately trying to not double dip on my HD movies(although I already have a stack of over 20 obsolete SD in my computer room).

At first, I'm getting No Country and Gattaca. I'll get I, Robot when it's reasonably priced.

Quake, you might as well plan on picking up No Country on BD within a month or so. You'll get that coupon inside the DVD, which would make it $15 at Wal-Mart. After the coupon expires, it will probably be a while before it can be had for that cheap.

Thank Jeebus! I agree with Hammer99. There are very few times where I prefer the unrated or director's cut. The only ones I can think of are actually Lord of the Rings.

I also got No Country Blu Ray and managed to find Italian Job HD-DVD for $9.99, and HD-DVD of Elizabeth The Golden Age and The Kingdom for $15.00 each.

Question: Why are some of you buying Dan in Real Life in BLU-RAY? Is there some need to see Steve Carell's pores forever and ever?

I can't speak for others, but Amazon had the DVD for $17.95 and the Blu-Ray for $17.99. I had the DVD preordered, but canceled to order the BR - if they're the same price, why the hell not?

It was shot on film, so it should benefit as much as other films. I realize that some people will only buy action movies and epics in HD, but some of us want more variety.

Besides, when it comes to someone whose pores don't need to be seen forever and ever, why not mention Tommy Lee Jones in NCFOM?

I bet you went to the theater and asked the projectionist to "please de-focus the projector because it's only a comedy."

Stupid.

Picked up No Country for Old Men yesterday. Wasn't initially intending on getting it, but couldn't resist with the $10 off coupon.

Yeah. He was smart enough to skip the movie entirely. D'oh!

(And to you Gerry P., FORGET Steve Carell! Dane Cook's acne scars easily trump!)
