For those who got Fantasia, do you watch it with "DisneyView" on or off?

Personally, I like to watch it without the view.

I find it distracting. I like to concentrate on the film itself, but sometimes my eyes will go towards the graphics on the side if it's on (can't help it, it just does sometimes) - so plain black bar is way to go for me.

But I like that Disney is giving us the choice, because I know some people who just hate the black bars.

I watch it without the view as well. I don't know why it's deemed necessary for 4:3 movies but not 2.35:1 movies. Maybe people aren't used to side bars yet.

I was happy to see that. I was going to order the UK BD of Dumbo, but I might hold off.

Watched Fantasia without DisneyView.

I may try it once though...I've seen screen captures of it from other Disney titles that make me curious about how it looks.

But I have no problem watching 4:3 content with the black bars on the sides.

I watched both Fantasias on blu-ray now and they are both a treat to the eyes and ears. I remember being a little disappointed with the audio from the original DVD version but now Disney has done justice with Stokowski soundtrack and the orchestra just comes alive. I cant wait till I upgrade my TV and sound System (prop in a year ) to experience this on an even greater scale

Also i watched the Documentary on Dali & Disney. Fricking amazing, it traces the beginnings of both artist and how varied their backgrounds and approach to art were yet they found common ground. Watching these movies excites me so much it makes me wanna paint or write music or do something great....

Would it be overly pedantic to consider swapping out the DVDs in the new collection with the DVDs from the old collection, and sticking the bonus disc in there somehow too? Definitely not fond of how the older features appear on screen via BD-Live according to folks here and elsewhere, and like others, I'm hanging onto the old box set now anyways. I suppose there's not great harm in keeping them separate, but the Blu-ray takes up so much less space . . .

Seriously. I thought it was going to be a featurette. It is a feature-length documentary almost worth the price of the set by itself, and every bit as good as the 3 Disney documentaries that got individual releases last week.

Did anyone get their Beauty and the Beast bonus charms? My order from October has not yet shipped. I ordered the bracelet thing with it.

I've done the exact same thing as you are suggesting with several releases. Personally, I say go for it. Of course my OCD requires me to note whenever I do this on my DVDAf.

Yeah, I ordered this for my sister and It still hasn't shown up either. I don't know what to think. It's been way longer than Disney is usually known for...

I actually received mine some time ago. However, the locking mechanism is rather tight and it can't be removed from the bracelet anymore. On the DMR facebook page quite a few people complained about the faulty locking mechanism and that may be the reason for the delay.

Hmmm, thanks for the info. Maybe I'll shoot them an email.

Re: Disney Classic Animation BD Plans: 2009-2010 - Pinocchio, Snow White, Fantasia, B

I have the world's dumbest question. I haven't experienced this before, but I am certain it is going to become more common.

My old sound system can't play 7.1 audio. There is just horrible screeching feedback. Fantasia is the first Blu Ray I have come across with no 5.1 option in English. So, aside from buying a new sound system, which I can't do right now, is there any way to fix this?

I am sitting here watching the movie in French, which for Fantasia is obviously not a problem, but I would rather fix it.

That's something that should be handled by the playback system. The player or receiver should be downconverting the 7.1 channels into 5.1. And, this is hardly the first case of there being no 5.1 (not counting legacy Dolby Digital or DTS). They usually don't include separate lossless 5.1 tracks for 7.1 titles.

Is there anything you can do in the player or receiver to fix this? Look for something to set the number of channels.
