Do you throw out your digital copy discs?

I thought this would be something to get perspectives on. Do you toss those discs to make room for your DVD versions of the film in the same case, toss them cause they expire anyway, sell them? I think most of mine are expired now anyway.

Depends, since my very slight OCD kicks in gear at that point. If the artwork or slipcover says that it contains a digital copy disc, then I hold onto it just for the sake of having everything that the packaging mentions. If it doesn't, then I chuck it.

Nope. I rip 'em all to my PC, then I keep the disc in the case since a 2-disc case looks funny to me when it's missing a disc. I don't see the point in throwing them out.

I swap out the case for a single disc one, usually from a title that I have an SD-DVD to accompany. I love those 2-disc cases with the pluck-hubs that Warner/Paramount often use. Those other odd push button ones seem really cheap. The amaray (yin-yang) hubs are still ok, but I'm not so much a fan of those anymore.

Re: Do you throw out your digital copy discs?

Digital copies expire? I only have a few of them (probably about 2-3) that came with various super-deluxe editions that I bought for reasons other than the DCs. I've never even bothered to read the fine print, although I do know that they come with some kind of access code.

I probably won't be tossing any DCs unless I need to swap the case when I need a double case for somewhere else.

Re: Do you throw out your digital copy discs?

I keep them all. I used to rip them to my PC but I soon had a shit load of space devoted to movies I would NEVER watch on my computer, so I deleted them all and stopped ripping them. So now I just leave them in the case.

Re: Do you throw out your digital copy discs?

Count me as another person that keeps the DC discs (mainly due to them always being mentioned on the front or back cover). But I have never redeemed a DC either. I just don't have the desire to watch said film on a portable device or computer, not when I just bought it on Blu-ray.

I probably should be selling them but they usually just sit. What's the best avenue for selling them besides Ebay or CL?

If there's nothing on them besides the digital copy, they go in the trash.

I still don't understand why people do this (nothing personal, just wondering). But the case takes up the same amount of space on the shelf whether the DC disc is in there or not. Why throw it out?

this. I don't want to pollute nor do I want to open it and see a missing disc.

Re: Do you throw out your digital copy discs?

I sell any and all DVDs/Digital copies that come inside the BDs unless it's a fuckup title by Fox/MGM where the DVD has the 'Special Features'. This way I get many extra 2/3 disc cases (great for customs).

Guess you never travel. I personally love having digital copies. I don't use all of them but I load a lot of them up on my Macbook. I enjoy having them will me on long trips.

I don't do anything with them. I still fail to see the point of them... I sure as shit won't watch a movie on a 3" screen.

Re: Do you throw out your digital copy discs?

I recently went through all of my BDs and took out all of the digital copies and put them all in a lot on eBay and got like $100 for them. I'd much rather have that money than a bunch of discs I'll never use.

What I'm going to do from now on is instantly sell them when I buy a new release that includes one. If you do that you can just about get half of your money back from the total cost of the BD.

As mentioned before, the only ones I'll even consider keeping now are the few that actually have special features on them that no other discs in the set include.

Re: Do you throw out your digital copy discs?

I think they are useless. I would much rather have the dvd and play it in a portable dvd player than a digital copy. Movies take up a lot of storage space on portable devices and you can only use them once. It is a waste.

Right in the garbage they go when I get home. I'll never use them.

Re: Do you throw out your digital copy discs?

I keep them, and I've used them all, but only because I have them, not because I want them. Plus it's kind of cool to have a mini library of movies on my computer.

Incidentally, I am currently looking for the digital copy for the movies "Bruno" and "Fighting" if anyone happens to have either of those and would sell them to me for the cost of shipping. I bought the movie used from Hollywood Video and Hastings and it's bugging me that both discs weren't included.

Re: Do you throw out your digital copy discs?

I have an unused stack of 'em somewhere, but I did sell my LOTR digi's on eBay for $18.50! They came with their own case and all, so I thought it might make sense, and it did.

As far as the expiration dates, has anyone actually failed to install one post expiration? My thoughts were that date was not "hard and fast", but gave the studio an "out" after which time they were not obligated to support downloads.

Re: Do you throw out your digital copy discs?

Pretty sure Warner is the only studio that sticks pretty close to the expiration dates. A few big titles (such as "The Dark Knight") are still available last I checked, but generally they stick to the date.

BuckNaked2k, any chance "Bruno" or "Fighting" are in your stack of them? Those are the two that didn't come with my used discs.

Re: Do you throw out your digital copy discs?

I also just leave them in the case and never use them... complete waste of space.

I can see why some people would use them, but I wish they would come in a separate, disposable sleeve or something... having a place for them in the permanent packaging (even though they expire) is madness and an affront to both aesthetic and function.

Sorry, I have neither of those, but feel free to peruse my collection for any others you may need.

Most of mine seem to be WB and Disney titles......
