Family Guy on BR?

So whats the deal? Before I waste any more hard earned dough on the season DVD boxed sets, I wish I could get some info on the series on BR.

I mean the Star Wars Trilogy is on BR, how much farther can the newer seasons be?

BTW, what was the first season on Family Guy in HD?

Re: Family Guy on BR?

After watching Blue Harvest I'll never trust a Family Guy Blu-ray of anything that was released before 2009.

Do you think the first BR release will be like Volume 7 or 8? I mean no way they will have Volumes 1-6 on BR, right?

Re: Family Guy on BR?

Well, if they do release those earlier seasons/volumes on DVDs, it will be somewhat pointless for the at-home viewer. No word thus far though on Blu-ray releases of the recent seasons. Fox is pretty shaky on TV-on-Blu-ray as it is.

THx

So is it "safe" to go ahead and get VOlumes 7 & 8 on DVD? They are the only I need and Amazon has 8 for a great buy right now.

Fox rarely, rarely, ever releases a catalog TV title on Blu-ray. For a show that's still on the air, only two, Prison Break, and we never got Season 2 (or 4). So yeah, you're safe. The Simpsons (S13 and S20) and Futurama are not really lighting up the sales charts so bringing a 4:3 show to BD won't likely happen.

Let's get to the point: This is the first season of "Family Guy" to be produced in HD. Some past specials may have been, I'm not sure, but this is the first regular season, so there's no point in Fox releasing older seasons on Blu-ray.

I'm pretty sure It's a Trap is the first special to be produced in HD, I could be wrong, but this season is for sure the first season to be produced in HD.

I believe Something, Something, Something Darkside was as well. The only one that was SD was Blue Harvest.

Correct. Blue Harvest was SD. Something, Something, Something Darkside was HD, but 4x3. And It's A Trap is HD and 16x9.

Re: Family Guy on BR?

Pretty sure The Cleveland Show S1 is HD, but they didn't release a BD of that. (Which is why I didn't buy the DVD.)

Not holding my breath for regular Family Guy/American Dad episodes, but we'll see.
