"Human Planet"--Multi-part series from BBC/Discovery Channel 4/26/2011

From blu-ray.com:

"BBC Video, in conjunction with Warner Home Video, has announced Human Planet for Blu-ray release on April 26, two days after premiering on Discovery Channel. This three-disc BD edition will offer the original BBC broadcast version with over three hours of footage not seen on US television.

"Special features will include 100 minutes of making-of bonus content, as well as exclusive BD-Live content."

This series premieres next Sunday 4/10 on Discovery Channel. The narrator for the British version is John Hurt, but the clips on the web site below don't have his voice, so it appears it's a standard switcheroo for American audiences.

The series is an examination of man's relationship to nature around the globe.

I have the BD pre-ordered already.

Also, for the US, the 8 episodes have been edited down to 6 episodes (I don't know how exactly).
I have the UK BD and it is spectacularly gorgeous.

Wow, did not know they cut it down that drastically...I figured maybe they'd shave a bit off each episode for commercials, but that's it.

I always purchase the BBC versions of these documentaries when it comes to DVD or BD, never the Discovery Channel versions. And I buy every one. I'm hopelessly addicted.

Very much looking forward to this BD release.

Mike Rowe (host of 'Dirty Jobs') will be the narrator for the US version that airs on Discovery.

Well, better than Oprah I guess. But I'm still getting the original version.
