Until they fix season one in 16x9 widescreen, I'm not interested.

Great news! Been waiting/hoping for them to continue with the series on blu. Now if we can get them to finish releasing other DC Comics shows on dvd such as Legion of Superheroes, Static Shock, and Zeta Project I'd be happy!!

I'm definitely going to get this. I had actually lost a lot of hope in seeing this find a release. Just the other day I was talking about the series and the lack of a S2 Blu-ray release with my sister.

Season 1 was framed with a widescreen presentation in mind, and to my recollection Cartoon Network aired it in both full frame and widescreen at different times. However, an anamorphic presentation was never produced and both the original DVD release and Blu-ray release were presented in full frame only. Technically, both presentations are the correct OAR but the intended ratio was always Widescreen.

I've had to keep this link in my bookmarks for several years now.
http://jl.toonzone.net/widescreen/widescreen.htm
It clearly shows how the show was meant to be. The 4x3 presentation was always a compromise by the creators to the network hesitant to go widescreen. The WS repeats did such good numbers that season 2 and on were produced widescreen only. I have no doubt WB will produce 16x9 transfers of the season 1 eps when they absolutely have to have them for future syndication or whatever, so I'm content to wait until that happens.

That's a cool article. I'm a widescreen supporter all the way, but I kinda agree with this guy's opinion in this case:
"...others (like myself) found the widescreen versions to be distracting, as the black bars omitted almost a quarter of the screen...material that my mind knew was there in the standard edition (I know that the storyboard artists kept the top and bottom of each shot free of important information, but it still bugged me)"
I love this show and I think season 1 looks amazing on Blu-ray. I can't imagine waiting for how ever many years it might take for them to release a widescreen version, especially when you do have to consider the fact that they may never release it.

Sorry, I look at those 4x3 images and I see a lot of sky and feet. The widescreen matting pushes your focus on eyelines of the characters and tightens the staging of action scenes. They knew what they were doing, WB doesn't.

For Season 1? I see some heads being cut off in some shots.

Do you mean the screenshots in the link I posted? Mostly foreheads from what I'm seeing, plus, these are still frames of dynamic shots.
The best example is that second shot from the left, the one with all the heroes standing in a line. Seriously, look at the shot, then hold some pieces of paper or something to your screen to matte off the top and bottom and tell me that doesn't go from "tv" to "cinema" just like that.
