OMG!

Checking the Horror titles by release date on that Image site you linked shows a bunch of former AB titles being released.... including...

"Hellbound: Hellraiser II 9/6/2011 Blu-ray Disc $17.97 Drama, Horror, Feature Film, Cult Classics, Devils/Demons, Thriller "

HELLBOUND: HELLRAISER II! ON BLU RAY! YES! YES! YES! YES!

re: Image gets the Lakeshore Ent. library (lots of Anchor Bay's New World genre titles)

also VAMP and DEAD HEAT

and yes it looks like image got ahold of a lot of anchor bay titles...they're releasing a lot more on dvd around that time. hopefully they'll eventually make it to blu as well. if they're putting DEAD HEAT on blu they better have plans for CHUD, CREEPSHOW 2, HOUSE 1/2, THE STUFF, etc.

In addition to Dead Heat, Hellraiser II and Vamp, it looks like they Image will be re-releasing Children of the Corn, Heathers and Hellraiser. Guess I should have waited on Vamp then. Oh well, the Arrow disc is still one of their better releases. Was there any kind of announcement? This seems like pretty big news for genre fans.

pre-orders up on amazon:

VAMP
THE HILLS HAVE EYES
DEAD HEAT
HELLBOUND: HELLRAISER II

could we get a mod to change this thread to maybe "Image acquires Anchor Bay genre titles..." ?? (as long as NoirFan is cool with that)

Image is just taking pieces from everybody now.

Shame AB didn't want to release any of these. They are known for horror.

This is AWESOME news. AB had their thumb up their ass for too long - Image looks to be getting things off to a solid start.

Agreed. Is there a region-free copy out somewhere?

Image Entertainment now controls the New World Pictures catalog whereas Anchor Bay opted not to renew their rights.

I'm curious if Halloween 4 and 5 fall under their catalog as New World released the films theatrically or if the Akkads owned them personally.

Hellraiser II, as well as Hellraiser, both from Image on September 6, 2011

I just stumbled across these on Amazon:
Hellraiser II
Hellraiser
Both are coming out September 6, 2011 from Image Entertainment. Obviously, the second one is bigger news since the first one was previously released by Anchor Bay, but I thought it was worth mentioning the first one as well since it's a different distributor, meaning possibly a different disc.

re: Image gets the Lakeshore Ent. library (lots of Anchor Bay's New World genre titles)

I have not been that impressed with Image's handling of most movies on Blu-ray. While better than shlock distributors like Mill Creek, Image's BDs have not been impressive by any stretch. Catalog titles must sell very poorly now, given the increasing number of entities that are passing on distributing them.

Re: Hellraiser II, as well as Hellraiser, both from Image on September 6, 2011

I'm wondering if it'll end up being a port of the Anchor Bay disc (just on Blu-Ray now), or if it'll end up having different extras (if any).

I am worried, admittedly, since I still remember how Image treated the Blu-Rays for the 4 Criterion titles they put out on Blu (Withnail and I, Time Bandits, Mona Lisa, The Long Good Friday). They're more than capable of putting out good releases (see: The Twilight Zone), but it could go either way...

re: Image gets the Lakeshore Ent. library (lots of Anchor Bay's New World genre titles)

Anchor Bay has made so much money off these Catalog titles (VHS/DVD and some BLU) over the past 15 years, they probably feel they bleed them dry. They have come along way and are making original theatrical and STV films of their own. I guess they want to concentrate on original product.

They've got some good stuff coming out on DVD, like House I and II and Return of the Killer Tomatoes, that they will hopefully release on Blu.

UK Blu-Ray of the film is Region-Free.

http://bluray.liesinc.net/index.php?region=b

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hills-Have-E...7294689&sr=8-6

Also confirmed here that even though the cover doesn't say so, the film is Uncut/Unrated

It all depends on where the source material is coming from.

Image's releases of Sony catalog titles have all been top notch. Why? Sony has provided the right materials to Image to put on Blu-ray. Image Entertainment has been on the verge of bankruptcy for years now, so they can't finance the proper restorations that other small distributors can. All they can do is push the rights holders into giving them the best possible elements to work with. As per some of their titles, it looks like they don't do that. Which then leads us to...

From what it seems with Mill Creek and Echo Bridge, they'll take whatever they can release and call it day with no care for quality control. Unlike say Blue Underground and Shout! Factory who go the extra mile.

Re: Image gets the Lakeshore Ent. library (lots of Anchor Bay's New World genre title

The library listing on Lakeshore's site lists a number of interesting titles: Children of the Corn 2: The Final Sacrifice and Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth, the long OOP-on-DVD Angel trilogy, the wrasslin' epics Grunt: The Wrestling Movie and I Like to Hurt People. If Image does indeed have the Lakeshore Library as the thread title suggests I wonder if we'll see DVD/BR releases for any of these that had been either OOP or unreleased by Anchor Bay.

All of the upcoming releases have the same low price-point ($17.95), which may mean these will be similarly bare-bones and underwhelming transfer-wise.
