Re: Warner Archive goes Blu -- whoddathunkit?
I dunno. It seems like so many of the Hammer titles they control have either been issued in the past few years or very recently revisited by Scream Factory. I think Curse is the only one that hadn't somewhat recently made it to Blu-ray on these shores. I'm very impressed by what they've announced for Curse and will pick that up on day one for sure.

Warner Archive posted some new trailers and HD clips from 4K scans in the wee hours tonight. I'm assuming these are destined for Blu-rays in the near future?
Also posted new clips from 4K scans of PRIVATE LIVES OF ELIZABETH AND ESSEX, ESCAPE FROM FORT BRAVO, THE TENDER TRAP, THE YEARLING, MR. BLANDINGS BUILDS HIS DREAM HOUSE, BACHELOR IN PARADISE, ATHENA, and THEY WON'T BELIEVE ME.
DRUNKEN MASTER II (1994) NEW 2021 1080p HD Master Sourced from 4K scan of Original Camera Negative!
The film that cemented Jackie Chan's iconic status as an action hero unlike any other pack a punch and brings a belly laugh in this eye-popping presentation taken from the original negatives! In turbulent China before World War I, the collapse of the Manchu Dynasty fuels violent uprisings and political chaos--the perfect setting for a grand-scale smuggling ring led by an unscrupulous British consul. When the ring plots to steal China's crown jewels only one man, legendary "Drunken Fist" master Huang Fei-hung (Chan), possesses the courage and ferocity to stop the ruthless gang. Contains three different audio tracks, the original Cantonese language track, Mandarin and English. This new high definition master taken from the original camera negative offers the option of the original English subtitles that appeared on theatrical prints in Hong Kong, as well as other venues, and contain the spelling and grammatical errors as seen at the time. Also offers English SDH sub-titles.

Nice. Those look to be May releases. DMII had been rumored for a while. I picked up the HKR version of it a while back to have a decent copy. I'll pick this up if it reviews are good.

Re: Warner Archive goes Blu -- whoddathunkit?
I'm really excited about Drunken Master 2, but I'm skeptical on a couple of fronts. I'm actually ok with the original theatrical subtitles being included (I kind of wish other labels would include them as well), but I'd prefer a proper set of subs to go with them. Also, Warner Archive's recent releases (not sure how far going back) have all had big ugly yellow all caps subs. They're the sort of thing that may have been acceptable on dvd in 1999, but are just completely amateurish today. That Warner Archive, one of the hands down most reliable labels for technical quality, would use them is mind boggling to me. Finally, the Cantonese track Warner has (as seen on the Asian releases) isn't the best quality. Mr. Nice Guy had the same problem. I'd prefer to replace my HKR version with something official, but I'm not convinced this will cut it.

Wow. I was just skimming the WBShop site last night as I was posting all the upcoming clips above. Had no idea it was shutting down so soon, though the writing was on the wall, I guess. Hopefully they'll allow Amazon to do some 4/$XX sales once in a while.

It’s possible it relaunches with a new owner. Maybe WB will run it themselves.

I'm 100% buying this, but definitely disappointed by the subtitles. If you don't want to commission new ones, at least lift the subs from the HKR version. It's only fitting, right?

Re: Warner Archive goes Blu -- whoddathunkit?
I'd rather have a proper translation in addition to the original theatrical subs, which I think are kind of a fun extra. The UK version of the first Drunken Master includes both and the theatrical subs are kind of fun, even with all the errors.

I wonder if this BD is the same as the one Warner Bros. released overseas on BD in 2018.
I have that release and if they are the same, I'll probably pass on this WAC release.

Presumably it's the same audio/video transfer with the addition of the theatrical subs (Asian release only had sdh subs) and the omission of the Miramax edit.

The one above (Korean) and the Hong Kong release were the same release from Warner Bros. (from back in 2018).
Those only had one cut of the film, compared to the Japanese release they did (which as you mentioned), had 3 cuts of the film.

It's the same as this one:

BTW, is the preorder link live yet in the US. I'm hoping that I can get Drunken Master 2 here in Canada as the WB Archive Blu-rays that I seen on Amazon Canada has been pricier.

Re: Warner Archive goes Blu -- whoddathunkit?
While not totally unexpected, this is devastating news to me. I LOVE Warner Archive. They've become my favorite boutique. And there are so still so many mainline WB films I was hoping would make the transition to 4k. If I don't get the rest of the Busby Berkeley musicals on BD or 4k remasters of Dirty Harry and The All the President's Men before this ship goes down (as well as countless others), I don't think I can be held responsible for what I will do.
*Edit* re-reading it, I'm hoping Jerry Beck is just talking about animation (his specialty). My blood pressure has come down a bit.

Just watched Bad Day at Black Rock for the first time. Great, tight, film. Tracy is the man.
