Perhaps, but I could swear that I read somewhere that there was going to be a real part III that linked all of the original films together. I can't seem to find it anywhere so perhaps it was a hallucination.

Linking them all together would be hard since H20 basically ignores that parts 4-6 exist and then Resurrection is a sequel to that one.

With this release announcement, I wonder if Rob Zombie will do another Halloween or if they'll do a reboot.

H20 takes place in the same continuity as I, II, IV, V, and VI, doesn't it? The newspaper clippings at the beginning seem to indicate that Laurie Strode faked her death that was mentioned in IV.

Rob Zombie has said in the past that he will not do another Halloween film. It sounds like they might do another sequel to his series of films with another director.

No they aren't. There was a deleted scene from the movie where a girl in Laurie's class does a report on the Halloween murders and the murder of Jamie Lloyd. After the class is over, Laurie walks into the hallway and throws up. They deleted it though because they wanted to ignore all the sequels and make this the true sequel.

That tiny little scene alone would have made a lot more fans of the franchise happy.

I started to post this exact same thing.

I just bought those 2 titles in the last 3 weeks.

I'm not too keen on repurchasing all of these movies to get the Producer's cut of Halloween 6.

If the price is right, I'll probably pick this up. Then again I still need to pick up the Friday The 13th set.

Not that I think he'll be doing part III.

I don't think so. I suspect Amazon just jumped the gun a couple days early.

Bet we get an official announcement on Monday.

Re: Halloween: The Complete Collection is coming to blu-ray

It's pretty much confirmed that that there will be two sets being released on September 23rd. Anchor Bay will act as distributor, but this will be a joint collaboration with Shout Factory.

A 10-disc set with the 10 films. A 15-disc set with the 10 films that will contain the television edits for I and II alongside the Producer's Cut for VI.

No word on which Zombie cuts will be included, but who fucking cares?

I'm in for that 15-disc set. I'm so glad I held off on buying any of the Halloween discs besides the VI/H20/Resurrection triple-feature set from Canada years ago.

EDIT: FUCK. Rumor is Shout Factory has acquired rights to the Dimension and Miramax library that Echo Bridge used to have.

If it's $49.99 or below, I'm in.

Sadly, it won't be.

When Amazon had it up, the price for the limited edition was close to $120.

Gyah. I'll just stick with my 35th Anniversary edition of the first movie. I'm mildly interested in having the sequels, but not that much.

Re: Halloween: The Complete Collection is coming to blu-ray

If the 15-disc set is a true "limited edition" similar to Anchor Bay's original DVD sets over a decade ago, I am pre-ordering no questions asked. I might even pre-order if there's something exclusive to the first pressing (similar to Anchor Bay's Battle Royale which had its first pressing in a digibook).

If the "limited edition" is just a title and nothing more, I'll wait for a price drop.

$120 is a bit steep for ten films, some which I don't even care for. However, there's a lot of material that I've wanted for years to finally be unearthed.

You're not crazy, I recall hearing something about that around the time Halloween: Resurrection came out. I don't know how true the rumors were, but I remember reading some articles on a Halloween fansite about a pt. 3 that had Myers as well as a supposed pt. 9 that would have Loomis' son as a central character. I never heard anything more about them, so I don't know if they were just fan rumors or if the cool reception to Resurrection killed the plans, but I'm sure Moustapha Akkad's death in 2005 closed the lid on any sequels to the original series.

So does that mean Shout could be releasing 6-8? Do they have the rights to 5 too? I forget.

What? Really. I cannot believe this is happening. If it's even halfway decent this is the most unexpected, delightful treat. I think I even bet a friend we'd never see this. F**k!

Re: Halloween: The Complete Collection is coming to blu-ray

The content of this set is pretty tempting to me even though I've already got most of the films on Blu-ray. I won't pay $120 for it but if it gets to like $70 or so sometime I'd probably go for it. The only bad thing is if it's going to be a Shout/Scream Factory release their titles tend to stay high priced and rarely drop.

Anchor Bay has the rights to H1, H4, & H5. Universal has H2 & H3 (leased to Shout Factory). If the rumors are true, Shout Factory could be releasing H6-H8 on their own but they'll probably wait a couple of years later when the pennies have been squeezed from this box set dry.

Re: Halloween: The Complete Collection is coming to blu-ray

I have all of these on Blu-ray already so this is gonna be a tough sale for me. Maybe if I can unload my current ones (I have the Canadian 6-8 which I think is desirable).

Re: Halloween: The Complete Collection is coming to blu-ray

The one thing for me is I got most of them cheap so that could be a way for me to justify the set eventually. The only ones I paid a lot for were the Scream Factory releases of Halloween II and Halloween III: Season of the Witch. The rest of them that I have I paid under $10 for on sale at Walmart or Target one year during Halloween.
