Re: Vestron Video Collector's Series (Lionsgate)

Little Monsters (1989) & Shivers (1975) are being carried by Walmart B&M stores. I'd check Online Store Inventory first before venturing out.

Two stores in my area showed them In-Stock but only one store had both on the shelves.

I'd recommend Shivers as a blind-buy but I would watch the trailer for Little Monsters first to see if it interests you.

I kind of feel like Little Monsters might be one of those films that since I didn’t grow up with it I may not see the appeal in as the nostalgia factor isn’t there for me. I’m also not the hugest fan of Fred Savage or Howie Mandel. I don’t mind either of them but meh.

I just posted my review of Shivers, if anyone's interested. I'm pretty burnt-out on writing right now, so it'll probably be the last review of mine you'll see for a while!

Just read it. I watched the entire package last weekend, and you've covered it well, and hopefully, will encourage a few buys. I had the Arrow "All Region" re-do from 2018, and that was a nice set also. There's a 42-minute "Making Of" that uses excerpts from the interviews used in their entirety on the Vestron disc. I hadn't seen the film since it appeared on DVD in 2006 or so, and I had forgotten how dark the film goes. There are images and suggestions that certainly wouldn't be allowed today.

Weird. I can't seem to get the link to work. I've been debating a double dip since it's so cheap. I already have the Arrow release, but if it's a solid step up in video, I'd go for it.

Re: Vestron Video Collector's Series (Lionsgate)

It’s sourced from the same master (Lionsgate actually supplied it to Arrow), so don’t expect any seismic differences.

The review link works for me, but the site’s redesign that went up a few days ago isn’t mobile-friendly, in case you’re on your phone.

I haven't seen it in years and years. Did it even get a DVD release?

Re: Vestron Video Collector's Series (Lionsgate)

I thought they already released The Wraith a couple of years ago. Maybe it was announced then, and got pushed back because of the pandemic? I don't think the Vestron Collector's Series has seen many releases in recent memory, so it's good to see they're keeping it going.

I think the only vestron release I have is Chopping Mall. I always wanted to pick up Maximum Overdrive but I’ve never seen it cheap.

Back in the day seemed like most videos I rented were Vestron.

Did you really know at the time though? Sure, now we know, but back then I didn’t know a production company from the ashy, sometimes itchy elbows I have.

Excited about this release, especially if Vestron follows suit on how they priced their previous pair of releases (Shivers & Little Monsters).

I knew, because the little thing came up before the movie. Vestron, New Line, Orion, those seemed to be frequent labels in my renting repertoire. Not that I focused on it, but it was definitely an integral part of the experience.

Exactly. All those logos are engrained in my brain.

Presented in HD and available on Blu-ray for the first time, Francis Ford Coppola’s director’s cut of Dementia 13 is quintessential gothic horror, wrapped in the twisted mysteries of a family’s deepest, darkest secrets. A widow deceives her late husband’s mother and brothers into thinking he’s still alive when she attends the yearly memorial to his drowned sister, hoping to secure his inheritance. But her cunning is no match for the demented, axe-wielding thing roaming the grounds of the family’s Irish estate in this cult favorite featuring Patrick Magee, Luana Anders, William Campbell, and Bart Patton.

Re: Vestron Video Collector's Series (Lionsgate)

I still need to pre-order Sundown.

Also I don't think I own Dementia 13 in any format, so I'll probably pick this one up. I've appreciated how cheap the Vestron titles have been as of late.

I read that Coppola went into his private collection for this film and assisted with the restoration process, which I believe will be a 4K transfer/restoration which is great.
