Re: Star Trek: Disccovery -- Season 1 -- 11/13/18

The set will include all 15 episodes of the freshman year of Discovery, as well as a number of bonus features centered around the launch of the first Trek television series in nearly 15 years – including interviews with cast and crew, on-set footage from the filming of the episodes, and extended and deleted scenes from Season 1.

The trailer for the home release was also screened for the Las Vegas crowd, which is sure to be online shortly.

We don’t yet have preorder links for this forthcoming Blu-ray (and DVD) release, but soon as they become available we’ll make sure you know about them right away as they’re expected to arrive very soon.

Re: Star Trek: Disccovery -- Season 1 -- 11/13/18

I don't think the episodes are that re-watchable. It's interesting, as you'd think a serialized TREK would work better than stand-alone episodes, but the old format worked pretty well - I guess because if there's something you don't like one week, you might get it the next. Discovery basically had two long storylines, neither one of which was exceptional (although the second half of the season works better than the first).

If you don't have or won't subscribe to CBS All-Access, then maybe this is for you. I already watched the entire 1st season on that service and liked it, but I don't think I need to own this. It's serialized and not really that re-watchable as Shannon said.

I'll get it at some point but only when it hits $25 or less. I remember scoring the rest of the franchise from Amazon UK for what seemed to be pennies on the dollar a couple of years ago. I can wait on these.

Star Trek: Lower Decks S1 - coming 18 May 2021, w/steelbook

From the bits:

I haven't bother buying Trek on physical anymore because streaming is just so much easier, but I wouldn't mind having that steelbook.
Price is a little high, hopefully it will come down a bit.

I might give Lower Decks a chance. I know you as well as others have said it’s the best modern Star Trek show. Might pre-order the Blu-ray.

Re: Star Trek Paramount Plus shows on Blu-Ray

Has anyone bought Star Trek: Picard season 3 on BD?

Looks like it's completely sold out on Amazon. Guess it was pretty popular for people to want to own it.

It's also unavailable at Best Buy

There is a 10 sec visual error in the last episode. The release could have been pulled.

It's not available because Paramount probably pulled it due to an error that Bill Hunt reported on earlier this week. I guess there was a scene that had temp CGI, but the version on P+ had the full finished version.

EDIT - What Meathead said.

Re: Star Trek Paramount Plus shows on Blu-Ray

Okay thanks. That's probably the reason. I know Picard season 3 was well reviewed and liked, but I found it surprising that it would be completely sold out. Guess being pulled for a content flaw makes sense.

I would be interested in this if it was 4K.

I don’t think any of Picard was shot at 4K, so it would have to be an upconversion.

That's a nice-looking set. Just needs the DS9 pilot "The Emissary" in it to make it complete.

Yeah Picard was not filmed in 4K. I did see an HDR button on the Picard page, but not 4K.

Wow. I did not realize that. Kinda surprising.

I haven't watched it yet but would have considered a blind buy with a set like this.

Re: Star Trek Paramount Plus shows on Blu-Ray

The first two seasons are interesting diversions that happen to have Picard and some other people. The third season is some of the best Trek we’ve seen in decades.

How is Strange New Worlds? I love the campiness of TOS--does it try to capture that at all?

To an extent, yeah. Moreso than Discovery, anyway. It's more episodic in nature, has a fair amount of funny and offbeat episodes, but it can also get pretty dark.

Re: Star Trek Paramount Plus shows on Blu-Ray

Yeah, it swings back and forth but is certainly one of the best Trek shows to come along in a long time, though Lower Decks is infinitely more rewatchable and leans towards the funny/bizarre things that happen in Starfleet.

Re: Star Trek Paramount Plus shows on Blu-Ray

Paramount will be doing a disc replacement for Picard Season 3 for anyone interested.

https://thedigitalbits.com/columns/m...-SJoJ8eSROWIk0

And finally, Paramount has confirmed that there will indeed be a Blu-ray and DVD disc replacement program for Star Trek: Picard – The Final Season and Star Trek: Picard – The Complete Series. As many of you will know by now—as we reported here at The Bits back on 9/22—the final disc in the set includes the series finale, The Last Generation, with an earlier version of a shot of the Enterprise that was later enhanced. You’ll now be able to request a copy of that disc that will include the enhanced shot, if you wish. Simply use this contact form (click here) on the Paramount website. Choose “Other” for the issue type, fill in your mailing information and the set you have, and tell them which disc in the set you’d like replaced (it’s different depending on whether you have the DVD or Blu-ray version of the set). The fixed discs should be available in November, so they’ll likely be mailed than. And if you purchase Star Trek: The Picard Legacy Collection (which now streets on 11/7, instead of the originally planned 10/17), that set should have the correct discs.
