It's a higher quality sandwich, especially the chicken.

Who the hell cares if they are trying to create their own version of another fast food chains sandwich. Fast food chains have copied each other since they became popular. Are there people who are just now noticing that?

I can't believe people are fighting over a damn chicken sandwich...

No one's fighting, we're discussing, which is what a discussion forum is for. Although, clearly, with 34 posts in 7 months, this doesn't seem to be your kind of thing.

Tried the online locator.

Only one within 50 miles (it's 48 miles away) is across the state line into Wisconsin.

Your kidding me, right? Fighting, discussing, debating... Regardless of what word you would prefer to use, there is a debate/discussion/fight over something as petty as the origin of a chicken sandwich, and outrage that another company would attempt to cash in. I really hope people were this upset for every idea that Wendy's/Burger King/McDonalds/(Insert Your Favorite Fast Food Chain Here) has ever ripped off each other.

Although, clearly, since I don't post 38 times a day, I have no idea what I am talking about.

It's just a conversation. People are expressing their thoughts and opinions, in a very civil way. There's no real animosity or anger, therefore no fighting. If I met DVDJOSH in real life, I'd buy him a chicken sandwich- McDonalds or Chick-Fil-A. And, even though the McDonalds version is free, I'd still try to talk him into letting me take him to Chick-Fil-A.

True, McDonalds came out with the McNuggets are some point in the early 80's (I think) and most fast food places now have some form of tender/nugget. However, other chains have versions that are fairly different. This is the most blatant rip-off I can think of. I won't lose sleep over it, but I don't feel it's so petty that it doesn't merit discussion. We've had some totally ridiculous threads here, but that's what makes this place so great. We can discuss almost anything. Whether Kit-Kats taste the same as they did several years ago, or if High Fructose Corn Syrup ruined our favorite convenience foods. How does this differ?

If you don't feel our conversation is worthy of discussion, don't participate. It's really as simple as that. I'm enjoying reading everyone's opinions. And, I learned that while Chicago is one of my favorite cities, I shouldn't expect to find a cheap lunch at Chick-Fil-A on a busy afternoon.

Yeah, if you think this is fighting, wow.

Yeah, of course fast food places try to follow one another when it comes to trends. God knows that almost all of em have some sort of "wrap" now. But still, this is far different than those types of things. In this case, you have McDonald's actually coping another item, almost exactly, other than the very specific taste.

It isn't a case where one came out with a broad item, like say a chicken nugget, and other places came out with their own versions of a nugget. I don't know of any place that tried to just copy the McNuggets. Like with the wraps, all of them have different touches or something.

This sandwich though, from the "build", slight taste similarities, the billboard, all of that. It's just a huge joke to me.

Anyway, not that I'm complaining about this one, but once upon a time the McNuggets were dark and white meat, then a few years ago they changed to 100% all white meat. I hated the dark meat pieces, and am still glad they changed. Still, CFA had all white meat nuggets way, way before McDonalds.

I almost feel sorry for anyone without a CFA near them. It's without a doubt my favorite fast food joint. Their chicken nuggets and chicken strips are better than any other fast food item out there to me.

I don't want to sound like I'm totally bashing McDonalds, I eat there every now and then. I do still love their nuggets, small hamburgers, and fries. And oh my God, their sweet tea...the best tea ever just about.

I didn't know this promotion was going on, but stopped by today to get a free sandwich using the coupon included with my recent Amazon purchase. The lady taking my order was openly rude when I ordered nothing else and only after the third time asking for the sandwich only while offering the coupon did she even look at it.

Anyway, the sandwich was good (especially being completely free).

See, that's where McD's rules. There is a McD's everywhere you go, whereas CFA is only in certain places. I'm in L.A. and if I wasn't driving towards the OC on a weekly basis, I would have never heard of CFA. Then I would think McD's Southern chicken sandwich the greatest thing in the world. Of course, for those who have had CFA's version, it's the greatest thing on Earth.

For example, my brother has never been to a Chick-Fil-A, and I don't think it's a good idea to drive about 20 miles for a chicken sandwich, no matter how great it is, at least not at today's gas prices. What we do have is a McD's that's 5 minutes away. That's pretty much the only choice we got.

Then I guess we agree, because I never suggested that Chick-Fil-A had the first chicken sandwich or first chicken biscuit, just that McDonald's is specifically ripping off Chick-Fil-A's versions.

Well, according to their website, they were the first to introduce the boneless chicken sandwich. So there.

Got the coupons in my Amazon order. I'll use 'em. Free is free. I tried the sandwich several weeks ago. As everyone else who's had both, the original is so much better. Damn, I should go pick up a CFL, and then get my free McRipoff and do a side-by-side comparison.

I got my chicken biscuit and coffee this morning. Although, I wasn't aware of the 7a.m. start time, they gave it to me anyway.
I took a late lunch and went back for the sandwich.
Chick-fil-a still kills them, but I preferred the biscuit over the sandwich. Which partly because McD's pickles are nasty.
My only regret is, I didn't have time to get a free iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts.

We got these this afternoon. Two large drinks and two chicken sandwiches for two bucks. Can't beat that. The sandwiches actually weren't too bad for Mickey D's. I have about eight of those coupons I've gotten with BMG and Amazon orders that I'll have to use by the end of June.

The only Chick-Fil-A I've ever seen was in this one shopping mall I'd hit every now and then back when I was in high school. It always looked like a scuzzy little hole in the wall so I never went there. Eating at the mall was all about Sbarro's anyway.

BIG difference in the sodium (130 vs 1090), unless that is a typo.

You're missing out. Their waffle fries and milkshakes....

Northern California got its first one about a year or so ago. I used to go to one all the time when I lived in Florida. I'm so glad they're here. Definitely one of the better fast food restaurants.

Sucks they're closed on Sundays.

I totally forgot about their milkshakes. Yeah, they have the best milkshakes from any fast food joint.

I tried both the Sandwich and the biscuit and liked them both. I think the CFA sandwich is superior, but this is the best chicken sandwich McDonald's has had in a while, IMO.
