Good deal, though I personally am refusing to support McDonald's blatant rip-off of the Chick-Fil-A sandwich.

It is absolutely ridiculous how much this new "southern" chicken sandwich is indeed a blatant rip-off of Chick-Fil-A. I've tried it, and I couldn't help but laugh when they gave it to me. It's the same type of bun, it comes with nothing on it except for two pickle pieces, and it seems they've tried to come as close to the flavor as they could figure out.

It's not anywhere close to as delicious as Chick-Fil-A, but it couldn't be more obvious that's what they were going for. I'm shocked that I haven't seen a news report or at least some sort of comment where Chick-Fil-A mentions this mess. It isn't horrible, I've had it two times now, but it has the same "McDonalds taste" to it where it's ok while I eat it, but a short while after I feel blah. I could eat CFA every single day, but I couldn't do that with McDonalds in a million years. I just can't stomach it all that often.

I await new ads with the Chick-Fil-A cows holding up new signs saying things like "accept no substitutes", and on and on, only with the usual CFA touches.

Thanks for the tip though, I'll use it since I work just about right next door to a McDonalds.

IMO, it's the best chicken sandwich at McD's. It's NO where close to Chick-fil-a's.
I've been getting 2 coupons for free sandwiches in my Amazon orders lately. One for Breakfast or lunch/dinner, and one for lunch/dinner.

BTW, Arby's is also touting a Southern Chicken Sandwich. It's not bad, but still doesn't compare to the original.

Is this a full size free sandwich or a sampler size like the free iced coffee?

At least at the McDonald's near me, they currently have ALL sizes of soft drinks at $1.00 (unless they change it before this promotion takes place tomorrow), so this will be a very inexpensive way to try this sandwich out. I believe I'll give it a go.

Well, I got my free chicken biscuit just now with my $1 sweet tea. They don't have any signs, and don't mention anything about it when you order. You have to flat out ask for the deal. I told my co-worker and she walked down and ordered a $2 tea also, but got Dr. Pepper instead on accident since that's what she usually gets.

Not a bad biscuit, but I still can't get past them totally ripping off Chick-Fil-A. I almost just totally avoided this promotion today since on my way to work I noticed a huge McDonald's billboard that had a picture of this biscuit and the chicken sandwich, then at the bottom in big letters it said "Open every day...even Sundays!"

Now they're just flat out admitting that they ripped them off.

But still, my cheapness won out and I went ahead and bought it. I'll likely get the sandwich later today or tonight also.

I'm not surprised that they wouldn't have signs about this special (even though it's been widely advertised on tv). If you think about it everyone who orders any sandwich (double cheeseburger, big mac, etc...) would add a Chicken Sandwich too as long as they got a drink with it. Think how many they'd go through if every single order added one. They'd never be able to stock enough chicken.

By the way, today is also the day for a free 16 oz. iced coffee at Dunkin Donuts from 10 am to 10 pm. I'm hitting McD's & DD on the way home.

If only you had read the post and saw that it's not the Southern Style chicken sandwich but the chicken biscuit, which predates Chick-Fil-A's chicken biscuit by about 100 years.

If only you had clicked the link and seen that it is a free Southern Style Chicken Sandwich or Southern Style Chicken Biscuit, neither of which predate Chick-Fil-A's chicken biscuit or sandwich by any amount of time.

I wouldn't be able to compare the two different sandwicnes since there is not a Chick-Fil-A in my town.

They were pushing these at my local McDonald's today -- several signs plastered the building offering it. When I placed my order for a burger combo, they asked, "Would you like a free chicken sandwich with that?" Naturally, I said yes.

I suppose you could say they're copying Chick Fil-A -- if you accept that the latter invented the chicken sandwich, as they claim -- but the flavor seemed quite different to me. I think I might have liked this one a little better. (Chick Fil-A's chicken always strikes me as a little too peppery.)

I don't know that I would ever order this, but it was okay.

Apologies for the first, but if you really think that people haven't been sticking a fried chicken patty on a biscuit since well before Chik Fil A ever existed than you are fooling yourself.

It's not simply that it's a chicken sandwich. It's the bun, the 2 pickles, the boneless white meat, even the color of the breading.

I've been eating Chick-fil-A for at least 25 years. When we were kids, we called it the "chicken sandwich with the pickles", because we'd never seen a pickle on a breaded chicken sandwich elsewhere.

The fact that they put their breakfast chicken onto a biscuit instead of a McMuffin just further points to the blatant rip-off. Exactly the same as Chick-fil-As version, except that the seasoning is less tasty to me.

And, now there are reports that they're advertising that you can get these on Sundays? McDonalds isn't even trying to hide the fact! What's next- Roast Beef sandwiches sold with a talking pot-holder?

There's absolutely no question that McDonald's purposely copied Chick-Fil-A in order to stick it to them since they seem to be expanding. The billboard that I mentioned earlier just cements the fact.

Anyone who eats at Chick-Fil-A can see what they're trying to do.

Renee already said it very well. If you think McDonald's isn't specifically imitating the Chick-Fil-A sandwich and the Chick-Fil-A chicken biscuit with their respective "Southern Style" versions, then you are fooling yourself.

Of course they are. AND...they are open on Sundays.

But CFA ain't the first either, just very good.

CFA was the first, that I know of, that had the sandwich "built" the same way with the very specific taste. You can tell that McDonald's even tried to get to the same taste in the chicken. It's pretty pathetic of them if you ask me.

Of course CFA wasn't the first to make a chicken sandwich, that's not the point.

There's no honor among thieves.

This is the third time I've tried the sandwich, but the first in the same week as a CFA one. The CFA sandwich is FAR superior, in every way.

But hey, free is free.

Yeah, I've bought it twice in the past since I work right next door to a McDonald's. It's not horrible or anything, it just has the exact same "McDonald's aftertaste" that I get with every single thing I eat there now.

Given the choice though, I'd go to CFA for a chicken sandwich every single time.

I've never even seen a Chick Fil-A in my life.
