And I mean specifically:
- Speed
- Do they ship the order when complete/items seperately
- Customs (very important!)
I've been using some of the 15% discount coupons giving me good prices (considering pre-orders are 30% off and shipping is $7.20 flat for 3 DVD's) thus cancelling orders at Amazon... But before I switch to CDNOW for everything I would appreciate some experiences!
Thanks!
Mark

I don't know when this new cdnow shipping began, but my recently ordered The Rock CC took about two weeks to be delivered to The Netherlands (shipped 02-05-2001, arrived 14-05-2001). Only 1 DVD so no customs problems there.
They split my order by the way. My The Fugitive: SE preorder will arrive later.
Prutser.

Keep it to 3 dvd's per order and try to match release dates.
If the release dates are far apart they ship the first released dvd and charge shipping costs for the whole order.
Sometimes when the 3rd title is finally released, the second released title is already on backorder and you have to wait some more weeks before this is available again.
I recently made the mistake of ordering 10-12 dvds per order with the 15 % discount which means Express Shipping by UPS.
UPS charge you through the nose: import tax, VAT & costs, so I lost more than my 15% discount.
Also they do not leave your orders at the postoffice, but try to deliver at your address 3 times. Then you can pick it up at one of their distribution centers.
Orders that arrive by DHL Worldwide Mail take 2-3 weeks, are left at the postoffice and no importtaxes!

Well, I've got three orders with three DVD's each (save maximum on shipping since it's a flat rate of $7.20 for 1-3 DVD's), all with a 15% off coupon. From each order they already shipped the titles released earlier AND I received them with DHL Worldmail within 7 days (reminder: Amazon used to use DHL Worldmail in their good old days). On top of that: no taxes!
So bye bye Amazon 25%, hello CDNOW 30%

I agree with exm:
"bye bye Amazon 25%, hello CDNOW 30%"
I placed two orders with CDNow and was pleasantly surprised by their speedy (8 day) delivery to New Zealand. I cancelled all my outstanding Amazon orders as CDNow seems to be the cheapest route by far for international R1 pre-orders.

DHL, although quick, usually meant we would have to pay taxes and the $5.00 collection fee here in Canada. What pissed me off with DHL is that they do not charge you when the items are delivered -- you get a bill in the mail a month or so later !
Amazon is still better for us Canadians as I have never been charged any additional fee's (for either a $15 order or a $300 order)
