The BBc have announced " The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy " for release January 28th priced at £24.99. The set consists of one DVD 9 disk and a DVD 5 disk. Here is the PR:

Don't Panic! Due to celestial string-pulling The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - one of the most popular BBC series ever - is soon to be available on DVD, released as a digi-pack.
Follow the adventures of Arthur Dent (Simon Jones) as he journeys across the universe armed only with the indispensable and mysterious Guide (Peter Jones), with unforgettable companions such as Ford Prefect, Zaphod Beeblebrox and Marvin the depressed Android.
Initially produced as a sci-fi radio series, the characters and worlds spawned from the mind of Douglas Adams soon became a cult hit and subsequently a hugely successful TV series.

The Making of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, directed by Kevin Davies.
Updated feature with cast interviews, stills, out-takes & convention footage.
Exclusive behind the scenes footage from making of the Hitchhiker's radio series.

Hopefully this is a sign that it may eventually be released in Region 1. This is one of the titles on my "I really hope it comes to dvd one day but wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't" list.
