Holy Mountain DVD in Italy Jodorowsky
http://www.rarovideo.com/schede/montagna.htm
Ordered up the PAL VHS from Italy and upon doing so I find the website for the studio Raro Video IT
It the news section they are advertising that this will be their first ever DVD .
The trailer they link is in English with Italian subs and since Italy does not censor below the belt nudity this could be our chance to get to see this film truly uncut.
No street date is given so I guess we will have to see how this pans out.

Oh. My. G-d. ![Jaw Drop](/images/smilies/jawdrop.gif)
This might not be around long, given the bastard reputation of the original rights-holder. Also, I would expect an awful transfer--reputedly there are no decent source materials out there, to say nothing of the transfer facility.
Still, I want to hear detailed reports of how this disc is. And I don't even have a multi-region player...

Well here is the more news for ya!
Got my PAL VHS today from Raro and guess what?
It's a rip from the Japanese LD with the Japanese subtitles
blurred out and Italian subs placed over top.
So it's English all right but all the pubic shots are blurred
just liked they are in the original Japan print.
So I highly advise those of us with the Japanese LD to hang on to it. The colors also show some gen loss from tranferring it from NTSC to PAL. My PAL VCR is top notch so I know it's not my gear.
So unless they find a new negative in the next month or so (ya ok) the DVD will be as sad as this VHS is.
