Is it anamorphic widescreen?

It's widescreen, not sure about anamorphic, but not a bad picture IMO. I saw the first 10 mins to try it out (am saving the film for my birthday tomorrow), and the picture is as good as any average R1 DVD transfer.

It's not. But it's the best $9 I've spent in a loooooooonnnnnng time. The picture and dts is great.. especially for a DVD-5.......

Okay thanks, looks like I'll wait for the R1 then. Anamorphic enhancement is a must for my purchases.

Well, according to DVDFile, the R1 release will now also feature the DTS track.

But the R3 'The Others' does have good picture quality. Strange.

Ahh - yes... so I'm glad I decided to wait for the R1. I was so close to having The Others go into my last order of 50 DVDs from DDDHouse. Now that the R1 will indeed have DTS, I can breathe easy. Who put this one out again? Universe? They're a mixed bag lately, but mostly good stuff. I figured this transfer would be good. It's the extras that are making me wait for the R1. God this movie ruled!

Yes. The R3 was a Universe. I wouldn't have waited for the Anamorphic transfer alone (especially when the Universe transfers are quite reasonable). But the extras seem reasonably nice now to wait for the R1.
