Playing Shaolin Soccer on Ps2

Hi,

I use the ps2 as a dvd player

I bought Shaolin Soccer DVD Extended Version DTS from Hong Kong, it plays fine until chapter 6 and then starts skipping a lot

Has anyone tried it on a ps2??

I want to know if my dvd is bad or if it is the ps2 dvd driver

Thanks
Mauro

Shaolin Soccer froze on my Panasonic player (the scene where they're facing the bearded women), although it worked fine in my Daewoo.

My mother borrowed it, and it says that the "disc is dirty" partway through it on her DVD player (despite it not being dirty at all).

Doesn't really answer your question, but I don't think it's specifically a PS2 problem.

there have been many other posts on this topic in the past on this (this DVD came out in September 2001) but the main problem appears to be the layer change that occurs after Chapter 6 (the part where Ah Mui is crying and the tears is going into the bread that she is kneading). Many machines apparently do not handle this layer change correctly. The PS2 as I recall was one that did not handle the layer change correctly, but don't quote me on this.

Yeah, my XBox couldn't handle the layer change either. My standalone plays it OK though.

Shaolin Soccer, along with Accidental Spy, didn't play properly past the layer change on my PS2, but both of them played flawlessly on my X-Box.

Does your Panasonic have this problem on some other titles? It maybe the player. Shaolin Soccer was the same with my Panasonic. Disc was fresh but it would glitch out, pixellate and eventually freeze the Panasonic. Worked fine on the DVD-rom. I took the player to service centre and forced them to replace the laser or somethign like that and it worked fine afterwards.

I have a Panasonic DVD-A300 (as my main player) and have been using for over 3 years...surprisingly, "Shaolin Soccer" was the only movie I ever had that froze in the middle of a movie like that.

Anyway, the darn thing is so old that if it conks out, time to get one of those new Malatas...

i've played it on my PS2 a few times (love the film ) and half the time it will freeze up a second and skip a couple of minutes after the layer change. but it works fine on my Pioneer 444, and DVD-ROM drive.

it freezes right exactly during that crying breadmaking scene when I played it on my friend's PS2. It wouldn't play the next scenes after that. Plays flawlessly on my Malata though
