Question about Hero 2 disc R3...

Can anyone tell me how to get the hidden menu to come up on the disc two of Hero R3?

easter egg

On disc-2 main menu screen, highlight the title "HERO" in the middle of the screen, that will lead you to some trailers,TV spots and photo, artwork, merchandise gallery.

To highlight it on your DVD Player, just press '5' on your DVD Player's remote control.

If you play the DVD on your computer just drag the mouse over the centre "Hero" icon.

OMG. I'd just finish watching the movie and the bonus features and wondering the same question too. Thanks for the direction. I think I can sleep well tonight. How come we couldn't access the easter eggs by the arrow button?

By the way, great movie. Shame on Miramax!!!!!

HERO (R3) DTS - Anyone else having problems?

I just picked up the DTS 2-disc edition from CD Wow. Its a great film, but I had two issues with the disc...

* The film jumps forward 10 seconds at 49.13. The layer change?

* When I got to the end, the picture started breaking up into colored blocks.

Cleaning the disc didn't help. I noticed a dot pattern on the surface of the disc, as if it had been gently splattered with something. It was under the plastic, so I couldn't do anything about it.

I requested a replacement from CD Wow. As usual, they dispatched it with speed and I received it yesterday. I was disappointed to see the jump at 49 minutes again, which made me believe that a clunky layer change is responsible.

However, while the credits broke up again (although later than on my first copy) now the opening titles also showed break-up/ pixelization! Spatter was present again on the disc.

Does anyone else have a copy of the disc, and how was your experience with it? I'm wondering if its worth getting another copy or just living with the first one I received.

My player is the Malata 996.

Thanks for any help I get!

I should be getting mine from CDWow either today or tomorrow.

I'll let you know if I find the same errors.

I'm currently waiting for my third copy of Hero to arrive from CDWow. The first copy played fine until the very end, the second copy wouldn't even get to the main menu, and the second disc of both sets wouldn't load. All had that same splatter of small grey dots beneath the plastic. Here's hoping the third time's the charm as I would like to see how the movie ends.

I've tried three different DVD players so it must just be shoddy manufacturing causing the problems. At least CDWow is good about replacing the bad discs.

Noticed that "spatter" as well (like someone sneezed onto the disc or so). No p/b problems though (neither on standalone nor PC).

Poor replication batch is all. Strange, Edko's batches are usually very reliable...unlike Universe and Mei Ah (to a lesser extent).

Well, I've asked for a third copy. If that's bad too, I'll just keep the first one, which isn't as bad as the 2nd one, as I do want to keep a copy of this film!

Bad pressing

I have also experienced problems with Hero from CD-WOW. It skipped frames, played a llittle and then froze.

I returned Hero for a replacement. However, when I received the new one same thing happened again.

My player is a Denver 311, which I have had no prior problems with. I am certain that it´s the pressing there is at fault here. This issue have been posted in other fora as well.

Hi I know what the problem is ....it is a problem with the layers...the second layer is damaged....I have had numerous problems in the past.....the opening menu and second layer are normally one together.....Williams don't worry the films you have bought are obvously from the same batch so thats why you have the same glitches.

The film will play ok on the first layer but once the dual layer pause accurs and the second layer starts then it will go bad and blocky and will freeze on accasions.

There is a chemical problem from where these discs were manufactured....maybe the discs are of low quality or have wear in them.

Good luck Williams on your third disc.

Had the "splatter" on my disc from CDWow.

Worked fine on my Apex AD1500.

I'm hoping it won't develop any technical flaws in the near future.

Hero Region 3 - actually Region Free????

Did a search...couldn't find anything on the topic.

I noticed that my gf's Samsung M101 (Region 1) was able to play the film without any problems. Going to try it on my Apex 1100 and my PS2.

- None of the players have region hacks.

I received my third copy of Hero from CD-Wow today. It also suffers from the splatter problem but both discs play fine (disc 2 is a bit jerky on the main menu but the featurettes are fine). Probably a matter of where those little gray dots happen to fall on the disc.

I also received my third copy from CD Wow, and again had problems, but again in different places !

I'm returning all three - kudos to CD Wow for their excellent service.

I may try another vendor if I can find one with a reasonable price. Shame, as I really do think its a terrific film!

Me again!

I just received a copy that I bought from DVD Asian (shipped next day, and only took two days to reach me - excellent).

I've not had a chance to watch the disc all the way through, but the 49 minute hiccup on all my CD Wow copies is finally gone, and I didn't see any break up at the beginning or end titles. Looks good!

This copy is obviously different from my CD Wow copies - on the front cover, bottom left, there is a notice actually printed on the artwork, proclaiming 2003 DVD-VIDEO EXCELLENCE AWARD. Also the case is a standard two-disc case, with a flap inside for disc 2. All my CD wow copies had a disc inside each side of the case, with the insert stuck in two central plastic "clips."

It really does look like CD Wow had a bad batch.

By the way, anyone know how to find those "hidden menus"?

I've been wanting to get this from CDWOW for a long time
and now I read about these problems...
so I emailed them and this is what I got back

Hi,

The issue has been resolved, as it was customers DVD players rather than the
discs themselves.

Thank you very much for your enquiry, and please visit the DVD Box Office
again soon, as we update the titles we stock on a daily basis.

Best Regards,
David

seems like they're not admitting that it was a bad batch

I just got mine from CD-Wow, it's actually region-free. Hope it's a legal version.

For those who didn't buy from CD-Wow:
No skipping at all ?
Any "splatter" / grey dots on the back of the disc ?

finally watched the movie on my Apex last night and no problems, although it was blocky at the beginning and a simple cleaning fixed it. The Layer change though was noticeable.

Very impressive DTS mix!
