T3 International Battle!
With other regions having DTS soundtracks on this title, there's bound to be a great deal of debate over which edition is the best for multi-region capable DVD players.
CD Wow is currently listing T3 for Regions 1, 2 and 3!
http://www2.cd-wow.net/searchresults...d=terminator+3
It couldn't be easier to have the choice, so many people like myself, are wondering which one to buy. As reviews start coming in for the different editions, I though it might be a good idea to start a thread where we can debate which one to get.
So take it away, folks!

the R1 appears to have a reference quality video and audio. According to this review
http://www.dvdanswers.com/dvd_review...=888&n=1&burl=
the 5.1 mix is outstanding....perfect picture and sound= easy sell for me! Do not need a DTS track!
I'd go with the R1!

Those of you with the R3 - does it have english menus? Or a choice of English or Asian, perhaps?
What we need is a head-to-head of these two, for NTSC buffs. The last thing one wants to do is order say, the R3, and then hear that the compression is poor compared to R1.
For this reason, I'm leaning towards R2, as I expect it to match the R1 picture-wise. But its still early days yet!

the R3 version is very good.
i watched it on a widescreen tv and with DTS speakers on today and it looked and sounded great. however, i noticed that on the 5.1 track, there's a scene where the voices turn into echos and the background music and etc become louder than it should but that's only for a few seconds. the DTS track doesn't have that problem.

I'll be doing a fullon A-B comparison of the R3 & R1 T3 discs as soon as I recieve the R1. I'll post my thoughts when I do, even though I fully expect the R3 to just be the R1 ported over.

I don't know why select people are making such a big deal over this.
T3- overstock - $16,93 ($1 ship)
T3 - dddvd - $17,95 (FREE SHIP)
T3 - amazon - $17,97 (free ship > $25)
T3- cd-wow $17,95 (free ship from HK)
i doubt if the r3 dts will be any better than the r1 5.1, plus i'd rather buy it from within the US than have it shipped from HK.

If previous releases from Pioneer Japan are any indication, expect the r2 Japanese 'Premium Edition' to include a full bitrate DTS track. As expensive as Japanese releases are, if my assumptions are correct then this could be the definitive version to get.
If I knew how to put a rolleyes smiley in my post it would go right here.

Remove the spaces between the colons and the word. Or, visit the Smilies page, which is linked on the lower left of the "post reply" or "new thread" page.

So....does anyone know if these releases will have a full-bitrate DTS track?

Coming from Pioneer there's a very good chance, but Heat may be the exception unless it's split over 2 discs dues to the length of the movie.

It seems like everyday something is added to my "To-Buy" List and Nov/Dec are just looking too damn expensive.

So, instead of trying to rolleyes, why don't explain why you thing the R3 DTS will be better than the R1 DD5.1? or is that all you can come up with?
