The JOHN WOO Collection (Fortune Star Remastered)- Early Shots
A quick note to those interested in the upcoming Remastered JOHN WOO Collection by Fortune Star:
The only provided info so far is remastered Hi-Def prints, Doby Digital and DTS tracks, English subs, two documentaries, trailers, and photo-galleries.
The French RAMA have provided some early shots of the package work.
Dont forget the upcoming 2DVD set of Bullet in the Head (in England)-

I will try and see if I could find more details. So, stay tuned!!

They will also have the original mono tracks in Cantonese, which are looking to be Hong Kong exclusives for the IVL sets. This IMHO makes them the release of choice. The documentaries are the continuation of the code of bullets segments from the Better Tomorrow sets.

Splendid! I've had to wait a long time for a decent Bullet In The Head DVD and now we're getting two in the course of a few months. What a great world we live in...

yesasia has it up for preorder with a release date of June 10, as does dddhouse. dddhouse says it is Region 3. It seems there are DTS tracks included for each film as well as the original soundtracks. http://us.yesasia.com/assocred.asp?C...c/version-all/

How about both? The IVL set for picture/sound, HKL for extras? I don't like doing things like that but I'll probably end up buying both eventually. I've been waiting so long for a good version of The Killer (big surprise), so I'm extremely happy that it'll be coming out. I'll definitely be buying the IVL set (probably along with all the other sets they'll release over the next 6 months).

Fortune Star, I think, just has the rights to the movies. Other companies release them. Maybe I'm wrong, though. If I'm wrong, then their DVDs have varying degrees of respectablility.
The Fox DVDs are good (albeit I still have problems with them). The sound and picture are good, though. It's the dubtitles I have problems with. The Deltamac releases are just passable, non-anamorphic, barebones, DVD-5 releases. However, many Deltamac DVDs are very obscure and otherwise hard to find movies. Considering many of the Megastar and Universe Laser DVDs are impossible to find now, Deltamac provides the only alternative. The IVL releases are very good. The Spectrum DVDs are likewise very good.
Dunno if the HKL Bullet in the Head is uncut but the website says 126 mins, which, taking PAL into account, I think, would make it longer than the current Deltamac DVD. Maybe it's misprint.

You would be wrong in a sense in this case. Fortune Star provides the key video/audio masters that are used by everyone who's licensed their titles. There is no variance there, except for the mono tracks that IVL will have access to. The packaging will vary, and perhaps supplements and other additional items such as subtitle tracks.

How will the IVL subtitles be? I must have the mono tracks, but only if the subtitles are not the normal crappy Hong Kong translations.
And just so I am clear on all this, the version at HiVi Zone and HKflix.com has the original mono Cantonese soundtracks, correct? I have not been paying much attention to the status of HK films of late and now i am playing catchup.
