Germany will get a collector's edition including the unrated version of the film, all the extras of the R1 release plus a few other extras. The CE will also contain the soundtrack on CD. All wrapped up in a nice special packaging which looks like this:
http://www.8ung.at/twoflowers/faust_3.jpg
http://www.8ung.at/twoflowers/faust_1.jpg
(The pictures show the dvd 'Faust' but SAW will have the same kind of packaging)
Kinowelt Home Entertainment will release this edition in June...expect other nice releases by Kinowelt, like a special edition of True Lies (comming in april).
Information can be found at the Kinowelt Home Entertainment forum at dvdinside.de (in German).
More info coming soon.

well, amazon.uk has shipped the uncut Saw. when I get it, I'll post what 8 seconds of fun were gained. I also bought the reg 1 version for the commentary, so I'll be able to compare the two.

So, SuckaMC, have you gotten your disc? There's a half-assed translated German review of the UK R2 here:http://translate.google.com/translat...3FArtNr%3D4484
It mentions it's uncut, disspells the 2 minute longer rumor, but says nothing of the extra gore or show any screen shots. WTF?!?

I have both the R1 ans the R2 "uncut" discs and truthfully, the only difference I saw between the two films was [spoi1er]a longer shot or two of Elwes cutting his foot off. and maybe a color shot of Det. Sing's head after the shotgun blast booby trap. Regarding the foot, you still don't see it come off nor is there any additional gore to speak of. If this was the rest of the film R1 missed, we really didn't miss out on anything, IMHO. [/spoi1er]

ok, got mine this morning, just finished watching it.. The first things I noticed...
1. When they first turn the lights on, and they see the dead guy on the floor. R1 has a close up of the tape recoder and the gun flash by. R2 we get a close up of the blow out head, then the other two.
2. Another second or 2 of the guy struggling his way through the razor wire.
3. During the head trap scene. We get some extra shots of her pulling out guts, and even a shot of her finding the stomach and reaching in to get the key.
4. Another shot(about 1.5 sec) of the Dr sawing his foot off.
thats all I noticed on the first viewing. Oh, When Adam gets home and is listening to his headphones, the music is different..At least I think it is.
I'll try to get a more thorough comparison together in a little while.

Hey SuckaMC, did you notice any difference in the brightness of some scenes? I heard somewhere that the US release upped the brightness level of particularly the scenes where they are in the room chained up because the darkness of the original version was considered to be "too disturbing" or some shit. I heard that the music or audio as a whole was also downplayed in the US version.

didn't really notice brightness. But now that you mention it, I also meant to point out that while he is sawing his foot, the sound is much more gruesome, with a much more pronounced sawing/grinding sound. It made me wince.

I picked up the R1 as it was so unbelievably cheap. I may have to pick up the "unrated" R2 UK as well when it gets a price drop though. But it doesn't have the additional DD upmix to EX and drops the DTS track completely - it's just not fair
