Region Free DVD Player? Or Hack

Can anyone recommend a cheap DVD player that I can change region codes on? Years ago, there were cheap DVD players and by opening the tray and hitting some remote buttons, you would find a "Secret Menu" in which you could change the region code. Do those still exist? And if so, I'd love some recommendations and where to find them.

Here’s one I got from Amazon recently. Works great right out of the box, no buttons to press to change the region or anything, it just plays any region, whether NTSC or PAL when you insert the disc, easy peasy. It also has HDMI, or it even connects to older TVs via composite, and it comes with both kinds of cables. Pay no attention to the HD DVD claims, it doesn’t play HD DVDs or Blu-rays for that matter. I’m assuming that was written by someone who doesn’t have a good command of English. It’s very inexpensive too, and don’t forget to tick the coupon box to get an additional 5% off:

There is a site: https://www.videohelp.com . In "DVD Hacks" at the top you can find possible region hacks for making players region free. What I do is I go to my local Goodwill store or any thrift shop, and look for used players made by Philips.
Then I look on this site with my phone to see if the model number of the player is listed having some region hack code. If there isn't, I'll still buy it and try all the region hacks for all Philips players listed. Some codes might work with model numbers that are not listed.

And the players are usually under $10 at my local Goodwill. They won't come with the remote, but using a universal remote with the player usually works with getting the hack to work. If the player breaks, you're out just $10 or less.

I was able to get 5 Philips DVD players to become region free. For region free Blu-ray, no hacks available. Just make sure you look for Philips brand players at thrift shops. They're the ones I was able to get region free the best.
