If you're in such a hurry to leave, why bother going in the first place?

Doesn't Singles have something after the credits? I think it is a cabaret scene entirely in French with subtitles involving Steve Dunne's (Campbell Scott) friend who has the watch that he's going to "fill with phone numbers" when they go out to clubs where Steve meets Linda? It basically ties up his loose-ended story line. VERY FUNNY!

I don't think I have ever seen an attendant in the theater until after the entire film has completed. They don't even bring up the house lights until that blue rating screen comes up. I do feel kind of silly when NO ONE ELSE is in the theater when it is over, but screw it.

Same here. The only times the attendants tried to "stare" me away was during the end credits of The Matrix Reloaded. I gave 'em all a look like I could care less and kept watching the end credits. The only times I don't stay is if I'm with someone else cos they usually want to leave and couldn't care less that there's something extra even if they already know that something extra is after the end credits. That's why I prefer to go alone.

Anyhoo, we're going to see Bad Boys II today and, since my grandfather is not the most patient man (he usually walks out of a film during the ending because all the big explosions and ass-kicking are over) and it was a miracle I convinced him to stay for the ending of PotC, I'd like to know if the footage at the end of [Bad Boys II[/B] is really worth the wait. If not, I'll just go see it again by myself but for now I want to know if it's worth convincing my grandfather to sit still for another 5-7+ minutes.
Nospoilers please. I just wanna know if it's really good and worth convincing someone to wait for you.

Actually when I took a film class in NYC, it was more of an honor thing, like paying respect to the people that made the film possible, not just the main players. It kinda stuck to me but when watching with friends, all in a hurry trying to beat the traffic, you just go.

I'm all about paying respect to the people who made the film possible... but to be honest, I don't really feel like I need to be giving props to the catering company and to Mr. Affleck's personal assistant.
Usually, before I go to a film, I find out the name of the director, the producers, the lead actors, and occasionally the writer and cinematographer. If I really enjoy a film, I'll usually hit IMDb and read the entire credit list... when I have time to read it, and when I can hyperlink over and see their entire career.
Now that's paying respect, IMO.

Man - I dont believe that nobody has mentioned Airplane! yet. That end bit is classic stuff.
As for jackasses who clean up before the show is done - just one more reason why I dont go to movie theaters anymore. I dig soundtracks - and with something ultra-cool as the soundtrack to PotC, I love hanging around. But oh no, they have to turn up the lights and start cleaning. When I ask them to turn out the light - "Oh, we'll be done in just a moment!"
Gee. Thanks.

Also there were a couple clips during the credits of Spy Kids 3, and one clip after the credits ended. They were cute, plus an outtake with George Clooney--you can't go wrong with that.

Even if you aren’t interesting in reading the credits or “honoring” those that worked on the film, why not stay and listen to the music? Some films have some incredible scores playing over the credits and I find it quite entertaining to simply stay and listen!

I pay "honor" to those people in the credits by paying my hard earned cash instead of downloading or buying a bootleg off of the street and paying overinflated prices at the candy counter.

"guess I have to re watch airplane for the 20th time or something like that, didn't know there was a gag at the end."
(thanks for the technical help getting that to show up!)

Great moments in the history of "Closing Credits"?
Spurred on by the "Do you view FILM CREDITS?" poll and the large number of people who, apperantly, do enjoy watching them, it seemed only fitting that we follow up with a thread in which we shared particularly good "closing credits".
This can be based on any number of reasons:
- Goofs/Gag reel
- Suprise and/or funny ending
- Good music
- Good scenery/artwork
- Your name in the credits
- Etc.
Hopefully, we can all pick up on some credits that we may have missed and need to watch. Use your discretion on whether or not to share the details of why it is worthwhile (i.e., don't spoil anything good).
The first ones that come to my mind are:
- Ferris Bueller's Day Off - probably the king of all closing credits . . . or at least the founder
- Young Sherlock Holmes - no comment . . . good for fans of the stories
- LOTR:Return Of The King - beautiful character/scenery sketches

Strange Brew has got to be one of my favorites. Bob and Doug just sit there and talk about the actual credits, pointing to them...'What's a gaffer?' 'He does this: *coughcough* That's a gaffer.'

The "Naked Gun" films have some very entertaining credits, but you have to look closely for them. Some of the "credits" given to people are very funny.

The earliest gag reel end credits I can remember seeing as a kid was for Cannonball Run.

Don't most of Jim Carrey's movies have gag reels during the closing credits, like Jackie Chan's?
