Official Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle Film References Thread [Spoilers]

Just got back from a screening of Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle and really enjoyed it.

One thing about this film is there are a TON (and I mean TON) of referrences to other films.

I figured we can band together to connect the dots between this film and others. Of course there will be spoilers. Thus the Spoiler warning in the title

My Contrubution (probably the most obvious one):

When Drew is on the ground and Seamus O'Grady walks through the fire = Terminator 2 where Robert Patrick does the exact same thing.

Like in Robocop where Peter Weller walks through the flames of an exploding gas station?

Or is that pushing it? I haven't seen the movie.

so it has a lot of "References" to other films.. doesn't that translate here to = "being unoriginal"

The fact that it is based on a 25 yr old TV show makes it unoriginal.

I think that's only applicable if we're discussing the Star Wars Prequels.

I love watching for movie references. I'm definitely gonna see this one.

For a guy who calls himself "McG" which I would assume would be after the McGriddle at McDonald's if he didn't come out first, I find it hard to believe he is "referrencing" other movies as much as ripping them off. Now I am seeing the movie, I'm not above mindless stupidity, but I think the target audience of CA is comprised of kids that would have no clue he is ripping of another movie, so they give him all the credit of being the most original director since the guy that shot the 50 cent video.

Sessa-

Since I'm must be one of those dumb kids I'll start this off:

The drinking scene at the begining is clearly Raiders of the Lost Ark

When a character falls off a roof top it is an homage to Vertigo

When the villain is released from jail it's like Scorsese's version of Cape Fear.

There's some Chicago/Cabaret/Fosse influence in the dance sequence.

All right pop quiz: What movie is it that Demi Moore is immitating when she does the "slow clap" and says, "congratulations, you figured it all out...etc." It is so familiar, but I can't quite place it.

Had a bunch of references slash steals. I kinda liked it. It was fun to watch. The fun wore off quickly as I went home. I mean total suspension of disbelief sort of cancels out any real sense of feelings for a film. I wish these types of films would have more
respect for their audience, though. I mean not everyone is a 12 year old boy sniffing glue.

In any case, my favorite scene was the crispin glover
Spoiler:
kiss between him and drew

And when diaz and company suddenly break out into dance routines . Which is in every other scene.

Grade: B-

[spoiler]Bruce Willis/spoiler] plays the head of the (I think) Justice Dept. He was married once to
Spoiler:
Demi Moore
.

Spoiler:
Andrew Wilson
plays a cop. He is Luke's brother.

Spoiler:
Jaclyn Smith
(of the original show) appears as - eek - a Guardian Angel.

That's an AWESOME reference, I can't believe I missed it!

(Spoilers added for the crybabies who wonder why we'd actually 'spoil' details in a thread for people who've obviously already seen CA2...)

Let's not forget the Mission Impossible 2...I mean Maximum Extreme 2.

Funny because all of Joey's speech at Diaz's home is what people did/have said about the Charlie's Angel's movies.

Matt LeBlanc mentions that the original Maximum Extreme had 13 writers on it, a jab at the first Charlie's Angels which was rumured to have that many script rewrites.

This movie sucked big time!
You suppose they used all those film referances because they needed to come up with some scenes for this lame movie?

The scene where Matt Leblanc is telling John Cleese all about what his daughter really does for a living is filmed in the same room where The Dude met Jackie Treehorn and got a helluva caucasian...

I thought that was very cool!

Also a scene at the begining where Lucy Liu comes out of a box reminded me of Close Encounters, the screws unscrewing from the inside of the box.

I thought it was a cheesy fun summer popcorn muncher. I loved it.

Bernie Mac was awesome as well!

A tv reference, not a movie one, but The Who's "Who Are You?" song during the CSI scene.

"What A Feeling" playing when they were dressed like welders at the shipyard ala "Flashdance."

In Cameron Diaz's montage at the begining she's climbing up a building and stealing a sword or something. It's just like Danger: Diabolik

That can't be it because I haven't seen Primal Fear

Also the falling off the dam combined with climbing into a plane/hilocopter is from Goldeneye.

Oh yeah. That was the first thing that came to mind.

I have to say Bernie Mac was excellent but seemed like the script was holding him back.

And I felt Lucy Liu's dad (not sure if he is a surprise or not, don't want to ruin it for some people), was a wasted opportunity.
