I always thoought Andrew McCarthy was amazing ( I last saw him in Joy Luck Club). I think he has a wonderful presence on screen and can display emotion so well without saying a word.

I miss Meredith Salenger, of Natty Gann and A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon fame (not to mention Dream a Little Dream ). True, besides b-movies, and a turn in Lake Placid she's done some TV work, but I still want more more more.

Lots of us miss Maddie Salenger.
She's in that current shampoo commercial where the two guys go to the restaurant bathroom together. She doesn't say anything and you have to look for her, but it's her, trust me.

Someone waltz out Mia Sara and let's have a look at her these days. I thought she was still cute as all get out in Timecop, which I guess was mid '90's. Unless something drastic has happened in the last few years, she still looks a lot like she did in Ferris Bueller's Day off, unlike say, Ally Sheedy, who looks butch with a capital B anymore.

but she gave a terrific performance a few years back in
"high art". Surprised the hell out of me.
Hope she gets another chance to shine!
I never cared much for mia sara. I liked her in ferris, but I always found her cold and distant.

Thumbs up to amanda peterson, drexl. She was pretty good in can't buy me love. She gave much warmth and some depth to what could have been just another braindead cheerleader in that
film.
meredith salinger I liked. She was pretty. I remember being pretty surpised that she had such ample bosom when watching dream a little dream. I still tend to think of her as the tomboy from the journey of natty gann.

Mia Sara still works fairly steadily, and she's still quite nice looking, IMHO. I've always had a jones for her.
Amanda Peterson...damn right. She was good in Can't Buy. I love her irate tone when Dempsey says he wants to rent her.
"RENT me?!?"

Edit: I will add a few more for conversation though some don't fit the criteria I think you are looking for. I like a lot of the suggestions (Lucy Deakins, Jill Schoelen, and Deborah Foreman from the less obvious department.. and Mia Sara though implants are a ).
Ari Myers (Kate & Allie)
Allison Smith (Kate & Allie): Liked her in 'A Reason to Believe', 'At First Sight', and 'Spy Game' also
Jennifer Rubin
Meg Tilly
Helen Slater
Liz and Jean Sagal ('Double Trouble' tv show)
Michelle Meyrink: a definite choice
Kellie Martin
Michelle Johnson: but what a debut
Melora Hardin
Cynthia Gibb (and a couple of the other 'Fame' cast members)
Andrea Elson ('ALF')
Ami Dolenz
Dana Barron
Jon Cryer
Tammy Lauren
Rebecca Schaeffer
Frank Whaley
Lisa Dean Ryan
Trini Alvarado (doesn't need a comeback, just hope she continues)
Kristen Vigard (The Survivors was pretty much it)
Julie McCullough
Robyn Lively
Heather McAdam
Shari Headley
Jennifer Runyon

Okay, more than 7 years later, we have:
Jon Cryer - Two and a Half Men
Fred Savage - TV directing (Always Sunny, Party Down, et al.)
Virginia Madsen - Sideways revitalized her career and led to some starring roles
Anyone else mentioned in this thread with something bigger than occasional guest spots? Somebody should have said Jackie Earle Haley.

Isn't Jackie Earle Haley on some new Fox show. I have seen him quite a bit the last couple of years.
