Titanic (1997):

Nothing On Earth Could Come Between Them.

This was on the 2nd movie poster once the film was released in December. Ugh, not only is it stupid and has nothing to do with Titanic, it makes no sense. Something on Earth did come between them: an iceberg!

(The teaser poster, which was erroneously printed with a summer release, read: Collide With Destiny. That was much, much better!)

Considering that some of the dinosaurs in the movie weren't even around in the Jurassic period....

But the tag line isnt so much about what dinosaur era but that the dinosaurs died about 65 million years ago and that 65 million years later...well, you saw the movie.

But yes, Jurassic Park was choosen because it had a better ring to it.

My favorite tagline ever (it has since been corrected):

"Don't Move. Don't Whisper. Don't Even Breath!"

Speaking of Titanic, when the DVD came out after a slight delay there were ads saying "The DVD the world has been waiting for is finally here!" Uh, I wasn't waiting for it, but was waiting for plenty of other titles then.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: After you see it, you'll start talking about it.

Great trailer. Sucky tagline.

Not a tagline, but on the Eternal Sunshine dvd cover, they have this quote from Peter Travers:

"A smart, sexy and seriously funny comedy."

What the fuck movie was he watching?

since the event of The Titanic's fate was well known prior to the film's release, it's safe to assume that this tagline featured a bit of intended irony.

Here's a tagline that looks like one of the longest I've ever seen:
In the Year of Darkness, 2029, the rulers of this planet devised the ultimate plan. They would reshape the Future by changing the Past. The plan required something that felt no pity. No pain. No fear. Something unstoppable. They created 'THE TERMINATOR'

Here's one that begs to be picked on: This isn't the movies anymore. Last Action Hero

I think sequels must have the highest percentage of sucky taglines...Deliver Us Some Evil. Seed of Chucky Actually that's kind of amusing.

No Accidents. No Coincidences. No Escapes. You Can't Cheat Death - Final Destination

Oddly enough, part two has an "aka" called: "You Can't Cheat Death Twice" Can you actually have a final destination twice?

Finally, it seems that quite a few folks are not giving taglines, but critic's opinions and things of the like. Equilibrium's tagline is not "Forget the Matrix, but rather it's: In a future where freedom is outlawed outlaws will become heroes. Seems fairly accurate...

Some guy made up his own tagline for this one:

Kangaroo Jack

Some others found whilst yahooing for "worst tagline":

Thirteenth Floor: You can go there, even though it doesn't exist.

Bats: They will suck you dry.

Continuing with the "sequel tags suck":
Police Academy: Mission to Moscow - Kicking buttski. Making you laughski. The Academy is backski! (Geez, that is HORRIFIC)

That wasn't a tagline, just a critic quote.

"In a future where freedom is outlawed outlaws will become heroes."

"Two men. One battle. No compromise."

"The only thing more powerful than the system, is the man that will overthrow it."

we have a new one

National Treasure - An Adventure 2000 years in the making!

Alright marketing guys, a few things:
the trailer shows us the film is about our nations forefathers' clues to a treasure. They show numerous things, clues in the declaration of independence, money, the films title is 'NATIONAL' treasure. Correct me if I'm wrong, our nation has only bee around for about 200 years or so, not 2000. But hey I haven't seen the film, maybe Christ hid some money in Arizona 2000 years ago, and George Washington had a lead on it.

The tagline:
MONSTERS COME REAL! CRASH OUT OF SCREEN! INVADE AUDIENCE! ABDUCT GIRLS FROM THEIR SEATS! Not 3-D. Don't Miss It!

"It's Terrific!" ~~ Citizen Kane

"See the naked young Franciscans whipped with cactus. See the bandit leader disemboweled. See the priest ride into the sunset with a midget and her newborn baby. What it all means isn't exactly clear, but you won't forget it." ~~ El Topo

"It's beyond your imagination" ~~ 'Manos' The Hands of Fate

"Make the Mistake!" ~~ Red Zone Cuba

I got a new one, from Morris' FahrenHYPE 911:

'You knew it was a lie ... Now you'll know why ...'

Well I just watched this laughable mess of a documentary, and I still don't know why. Pathetic.
