Envy ?
For a movie featuring two well known, funny actors(Ben Stiller & Jack Black) there sure isn't much being done to promote this film. I think it comes out on Friday but I have yet to see one trailer for the film on TV. What's the deal? Is it a limited release on Friday?

Well I've certainly seen a few trailers for it on TV. I definitly plan to see it, but my hopes aren't high. I know it's been through a bit of hell, delays and whatnot, but I still want to see it. I mean it should atleast be watchable with Jack Black and Ben Stiller in it, I like them both. Plus Walken has a role in it too.

I hope it's good. In Berardinelli's review he compared it to Cable Guy, which he also didn't care for, and I like Cable Guy, so that gives me a little more hope.

This one just looks weak, weak, weak. A Stiller/Black combo would get me excited but the trailers, ads are just awful.
Check out this line from the AP review:
The characters in this movie about backstabbing and friendship repeat the word “flan” endlessly and act orgasmic at the very thought of it — the equivalent of watching two 6-year-old’s giggle themselves into a fit over some inexplicable joke. Sure, they’re having a good time — but what about the onlookers, in this case the audience?
Anyone buying a ticket to this debacle may find themselves turning to some other unlucky soul in the theater and asking: “Are they really making joke after joke after joke about flan?”

i built it and watched it last nite. It wasn't fantastic but it was funny and entertaining. Jack Black usually doesn't disappoint. I rank it right up there with Starksy and Hutch. But than again I really liked movies like Cable Guy and dirty work, so my opinions on comedies might not mean much to most.

Attaching each reel together to form one big print is traditionally called "building" a print.

I remember seeing the trailer to at Terminator 3 along with The Whole Ten Yards which at the time both were supposed to come out in October.
I saw the film today (paid $6.00 and then snuck into Mean Girls) and I hated every minute of it. Easily as bad as Stiller's other 2004 flick Along Came Polly (Starsky and Hutch is *slightly* better). Stiller brings, yet again, not a single goddamn thing to the film. Again he plays the "I'm gonna play this role straight!" guy who has no balls, but does have a vagina and a stick shoved up his ass for the course of the film. Jack Black, who I'm usually a fan of, didn't amuse me once. Everyone else, including Walken, was just wasted talent. Poor Barry Levinson, I expect more from him. Now there is no wonder why the film was delayed, and from the sounds of the audience (total silence), this film looks like it'll tank. Good riddance.
Ben Stiller is easily making his way from one of my favorite comedic actors to "celebrity I most want to punch in the face." If Dodgeball sucks, I will cry.
I did like Mean Girls through.

Film prints are shipped to theaters in metal cans that hold, on average, 4-6 small film reels- typically 15-20 minutes long a piece.

Note to Chris Walken: You do know that you're allowed to turn down a movie, don't you?
