The visual style of the trailer was awesome.

The acting was a complete joke.

They did nail it. The series has always been known for it's high camp value, and this looks spot-on for it. The race scenes look a bit too cartoony, but honestly, I think it'll be a fun watch.

The style reminds me more of Mystery Men than Schummacher.

it seems some might be taking this a little too seriously. The only way this show should be done as a movie is to keep it's cartoonish vibe. That means everything has to be over the top.

As far as the acting, to judge from that one clip the only one off seems to be John Goodman, who sounds like he's doing a revival of Roseanne. Roger Allam sounds much more like Pops.

The only thing that looked really shitty to me was the punch that Racer X caught. It looked completely telegraphed. Other than that, it looks like what I'd expect Speed Racer to look like in the 21st century.

This will be great to see in a theater. The colors are pretty awesome.

I agree. I'm intrigued, but it can come off really stupid or the style might just work perfectly with the material. I'm in wait and see mode.

The action scenes look like a cheesy video game. I was never a fan of Speed Racer, and this trailer hasn't changed that.

Judging from the trailer I'd compare it to Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow a new visual treat that is just absolutely horrible.

I liked the evil promoter dude, but they need a better Pops. If they don't get too talky or to serious, it could be a really fun movie. Hopefully-at-least-one-person-in-the-movie-will-talk-like-this-because-he-is-in-a-race-and-he-must-talk-very-fast-and-he-doesn't-have-time-to-not-talk-like-this-because-he-is-in-a-race.

I have to admit, the racetrack sequences looked really cool.

If anything, the movie might be a little to slick and serious.

That last video Jason posted makes me think the Wachowskis stole "bullet-time" from Speed Racer and are now going back to steal the entire well.

Some you guys are expecting an academy award movie or something? Seriously... the original is a cheesy cartoon with bright colors... and the movie is bringing that to life. The colors look awesome and the racing sequences look nothing like what we've seen in the past (Fast & Furious... and the hundreds of other racing movies) at least this stands out. I'll definitely be there opening weekend!!!

I'm kinda upset he doesn't sport the red handkerchief around his neck.

Ok but whats the point of making a live action Speed Racer movie if it still looks like a freakin cartoon?
