Two other more modern examples worth checking out -
The Aura (2005) directed by Fabian Bielinsky, and another one also directed by him called Nine Queens (2000). Nine Queens is more of a con-artist type film, but it's probably close enough.

Nine queens looks pretty good.
Yeah, a heist movie in my man doesn't need to revolve around an actual caper of some sort. A con works too.
And there seems to be 3 movies named Heist. should I get all 3?

A lot of good ones mentioned.
'Charley Varrick' is an American classic.
'Touches Pas Au Grisbi' is a classic. A type of heist film, but the heist is not the issue.
'The Asphalt Jungle' This is a giant of a movie that inspired 'Rififi' and other French noirs.
'Killing Zoe'. Terrific movie. Also one of my favorite heist films.
'Grand Slam' is a 1967 remake of 'Rififi' that is good stuff.
'Le Cercle Rouge' may be my favorite.
'The Hard Word' from Australia with Guy Pearce is worth seeing. I liked the edge to it.
'The Lookout' is fantastic.
'Thief'.
'Out of Sight' is really good.
'Dog Day Afternoon'.
'The Brinks Job'
