holy smokes I just watched super size me

i kept wanting to scream at the dude to STOP. i was worried he'd have a heart attack, die and the film ends.

edit
I did think it was weird that the dude who ate all of those big macs had 140 cholesterol. He never at the fries or drink, just the big macs, still that is a shitload of meat

I never really got the point of that movie. "I ate McDonalds for a month straight and test results say that it was bad for me!" well, no shit!

Just another propagandist passing themselves off as a documentary film-maker. Spurlock is a douchebag, and I'm sorry he didn't choke on his mcnuggets.

I don't think I had the expected response to this movie. I hadn't had a Big Mac in about 10 years before seeing it, afterwards I was eating 4-5 a month.

If you liked Supersize Me, check out McLibel.

A very good documentary about McDonald's sueing a couple greenpeace types in England for libel.

It seemed logical enough until I thought about it.

You spend a month gorging yourself on anything til you vomit and naturally its going to affect your health.

Maybe if he'd eaten human sized meals I could've taken his little movie more seriously. But I suspect then he wouldn't have gotten the desired results.

I think most people know fast food is terrible for you, but capturing the effects it has on people, MILLIONS of people who eat like that every day, was interesting; seeing what can happen to a health person in a very short amount of time.

How exactly is eating 3 meals a day "gorging"???

(And he only super-sized when asked. If they didn't ask, he didn't do it)

Hmm, I have a hard time believing that millions of people eat like that though.

It also helps to note that he was basically a vegetarian / vegan (can't remember which) prior to starting this movie. His girlfriend had him whittled down to rarely eating meat, but hadn't coerced him into quitting altogether.

At the start of the film, they talk about the lawsuit that some fat people, a 14 year old who was 4'10 178 pounds and 19 years old, 5'6 270 girl sued the MCDonalds for being fat and have health problems from eating McDonalds.

The judge said that "IF the plaintifs produce evidence that Mcdonalds intends that they eat Mcdonalds food for every meal of every day, AND doing so would be unreasonably dangerous," then they may be able to state a claim.

"I ate McDonalds for a month straight and test results say that it was bad for me!" well, no shit!
2 months after the release of the movie, McDonalds pulled the super size option from their menu. I guess he got the point across

His only real specific accusations where it looked like he was telling people what to think, was that McDonalds targets children, so that they grow up eating Mcdonalds and keep eating it.

For the most part he was pretty objective. They just show him eating a ton of shit, and taking pictures of lots of fatties.

Oh I LOVE deep thoughts like these

I honestly cant tell if you are being serious or not, but people eat a shitload of fast food in this country.

franky, it is all the sides, like the fries, and sodas, and whatnot that really pile up the bad calories.

Lots a people dont eat three meals a day.

Lots dont get 2 meals a day, they might get 1 from mcdonalds and one from taco bell and that is it.

Frankly, i can eat cheaper, and healthier than that.

I can eat healthy for $2 a day: breakfast cereal in the morning. peanut butter sandwich for lunch. Brown rice and vegetables for dinner. Or sometimes I eat a can of soup, with extra water and then add rice, and that is dinner.

That is a heall of a lot cheaper than fast food. and a hell of a lot healthier.

edit, I am a total cheapass, i load up on cereal when it is mad cheap, and buy cheap bread when its on sale, and the rice is cheap when bought in bulk. so yeah $2-$2.50 per day on food. I am that cheap

Oh I was being serious. I know people eat a lot of fast food, but I don't think millions eat fast food 3 times a day for years and years of their life. I'm sure some people live like that, but not millions.

I'm talking living their life like Spurlock did in a month. Not just eating a lot of fast food. Hell, I probably ate fast food 4 or 5 times a week when in was in college.

I confess it's been awhile since I've seen it, but I definately remember him sittign in a van force-feedign himself til he ended up yakking out the side door.

My point is, most people may eat crap, but they usually only eat until they're full, then stop.

You'd be surprised. The movie may have seemed a bit far fetched, but it's not uncommon that folks rush out the door, chug a starbucks coffee and a donut for breakfast (if they even eat it), a McDonalds or other 2,000 calorie lunch, snack another 1,000 calorie count snack in between lunch and dinner, where they are just going to top it off with some quick fast food drive thru 2,000 calorie dinner.

It's an unhealthy society and considering the new generation will not out live the current one because of heart disease and diabetes, it's not hard to see that there's a serious issue going on.

Now go watch Fast Food Nation and throw up.

I haven't eaten a mc-poo-burger in over a decade and I look down on people who do.

Part of Spurlock's experiment was to say yes every time he was asked if he wanted his meal or food item super-sized. His point was that the size of the portions you receive at fast-food restaurants is insane. Guess you missed that point.

Since this movie has been out for almost four years, there's already a thread about it. You can read the discussion here.
