There really wasn't a huge centerpiece for action and the final act was executed pretty poorly, from an action choreography standpoint.
But just like kick-ass fight scenes don't make a movie, merely serviceable ones aren't going to make Iron Man a bad movie. It looks like from your overall review/rating, you agree with that.

Yeah, in the credits he also punches up some guitar rifs. But I have to question life when Tom gets left in but Ghostface killer gets cut?

Tony has this magnetic thing in his chest to stop the shrapnel from going to his heart. Ok, a third-world kludge to save your butt. Once back in the US, why didn't he have the shrapnel surgically removed? This may have made sense given the state of medicine when Iron Man was first created, but now it's just stupid. Modern medicine is pretty good, and the film mentioned Stark's medical tech, so they should be even better than the real world.

Finally got to see it last night. Loved it. Loved RDJ. Loved all of the little nods to the comic fan. I'm not the biggest Iron Man reader, but I think I will start now. The character is so multi-layered and cool. The movie flew by, I looked at my phone and was shocked to see that over an hour and a half had already gone by. My top 5 superhero movies now look like this:
1.X2
2.Batman Begins
3.Spider-Man 2
4.Iron Man
5.Daredevil Director's Cut

Star Wars references?
Loved the movie.
Now, am I geeking out too much here, or did I see at least two nods to Star Wars, ANH and ESB - In the cave, Yinsen buys Tony more time to power up the suit and runs down the corridor, firing his weapon until he's confronted by a large group of terrorists - very similar to Han Solo in Death Star, and Iron Man clinging to the underbelly of the fighter jet, invisible to radar and satellites, the way the Millenium Falcon hid on the Star Destroyer in ESB to avoid detection until it dumped its garbage.

Saw it today and thought it was really one of the better comic book movies. The only part that did not make sense was how fast the Iron Monger suit was built and learned to be used.

If anything Star Wars owes a nod to comics... all that stuff was done in various "Super Hero" comics way before the Star Wars movie came out.

B it is based on a comic...
C it is A movie based on a comic...
D did you feel that any other Super Hero movie needed to be based on anything modern or realistic?

Not sure if this was posted yet:
Marvel Entertainment released their first quarter report to its shareholders this morning to coincide with the announcement about the success this past weekend of Marvel Studios' first production Iron Man, which grossed an estimated $100.7 million domestically and over $200 million worldwide. The announcement included an update of Marvel Studios' feature film slate with the already-rumored Iron Man 2 announced for a release on April 30, 2010, followed by three more movies for the summers of '10 and '11. Matthew Vaughn's Thor is set for a release on June 4, 2010, and The First Avenger: Captain America (the working title) will kick off the summer of 2011 on May 6, followed by the highly-anticipated and foreshadowed The Avengers scheduled for July 2011. (Edgar Wright's Ant-Man is also listed as being in development with no release date set.)
