What a great fucking movie, saw a midnight show. Played like Hearts of Darkness as done by Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

While literally everyone owned in this, this movie was the town in the last Alien vs. Predator movie (NOT a comment on this film's quality) and Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Cruise were the Alien and Predator.

The dialogue seemed straight out of an 80's action movie, even moreso than Pineapple Express. They're pretty even though.

Caught it last night at the drive-in. Really funny. Downey caps off the summer he owns with another awesome performance. Still is just as good as I expected. Black is a bit of a weak link here. He just wasn't all that funny, except when he was seriously jonesing for some drugs. Overall it was really good, but I think Pineapple Express was funnier.

Hmmm....a bit of disjointed-feeling movie for me. I liked the premise, liked the cast, and there were a good number of laugh-out-loud, extremely funny bits, but as sort of a spoof/homage/parody, it just didn't feel as "comfortable" a mix as did a movie like "Hot Fuzz". I enjoyed it and respected the creativity, but probably not a lot of repeat-viewing value for me.

Saw it this morning, didn't like it. The premise is amusing and it's got terrific actors but the movie really drags, too many of the one-liners fall flat, and it just runs out of steam long before the ending. You know a comedy is in trouble when the first five minutes are the funniest of the entire film. The Simple Jack stuff was stupid, and just what in the hell is so hilarious about Tom Cruise dancing in a fat suit? That scene was straight out of Epic Movie.

A disappointment.

Wow, i'm surprised there's that many negative reactions to the movie. This was exactly what I expected out of the trailers and it delivered on almost everything. While some bits were taken a bit too far and fell flat, such as the Simple Jack re-enacting, McConaghey's agent, and Cruise's character going from a pleasant surprise to overbearing at the end, all the other actors were spot on and delivered perfectly.

Downey was amazing and stole the show, and I really want to see this again as I think I missed some good lines. Black was exactly what I thought he would be and had some of the best lines once tied up in the tree. The other two characters Kevin and Alpa Chino did a great job playing mostly serious to the other 3 leads with some good lines as well. The action was a bit over the top and unexpected, but once the director blew up it set the tone for the rest of the film.

A great way to close out the summer movies for me.

I was really not looking forward to this but my friends wanted to so I said what the hell... So glad I did, as this had me laughing almost the whole time. Really funny with a few times my stomach hurt so much (especially the play between Alpa and Downey) from laughing. This was the movie I was expecting Pineapple Express to be.

I just got back and I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I think I got caught up in the HYPE machine.

All the scenes with Downey's character, "in character", were hilarious and even Tom Cruise's bit was ok. But everything else was just kinda alright but mostly stupid. And at a certain point I found myself wanting the movie to hurry up and end. I did see a couple walk out about halfway through, then another small group left about 10 minutes later.

My wife and I saw this last night and we both loved it. For me, it's right up there with Pineapple Express, and while the two movies are very different from each other, they were both hilarious.

3.5 to 4.0. very funny, but works more as a balls out action movie. i think the Tom Cruise and Matthew McConaughey bits were a little overdone. a little less and they both would have been stellar especially TC.

the movie worked on many and didn't on some. it was a little above average with some good laughs, but the action again was well done and over-the-top like they should have been. all the principles played their roles perfectly.

overall, a fun ride.

Saw it last night and while I liked it, it wasn't as funny as I thought it was going to be. RDJ was great though. And for some reason, my biggest laugh was when Tugg accidentally killed the panda. I didn't see that coming and I was stifling my laughter for a good two minutes and have no idea what happened after that.

Don't forget about

http://www.bootysweat.com/

There is a pretty cool feature on there where you upload a pic of your friend and it makes this video of Alpa Chino talking about Booty Sweat and how it will make your friend better with the ladies and calls their phone after they watch the video.

so i went to see this again today (took my mom as she wanted to see it). it held up very well and dare i say for some reason i think i enjoyed it a little more. it hit more on the comedic cylinders this time around rather than the only action i said yesterday. very good on 2nd helping.

i would change my vote to 4.0 stars if i could.

I get a kick out of all the energy drink/movie tie-ins, kind of wish it didn't say Tropic Thunder on the can, though. ( http://www.thinkgeek.com/caffeine/drinks/9cce/ being the other ).

Booty Sweat and Brawndo go well with Lightning Bolt (Steven Seagal brand).

Compare this to the actual Tom Cruise website and it's even more hilarious. It looks very very similar.

Off-the-wall, defiantly un-pc fun, but fairly shallow in depth of satire. Thought the film was going to take a very interesting turn with Cruise's character deciding to abandon Stiller - that whole exchange with McConaughey was great , but the film then went to reverse these intentions. Still, I laughed til my sides hurt, but I won't be revisiting this one, theater or disc.

If you laughed a lot, why wouldn't you ever want to see it again? You'll probably laugh just as much if not more! (although, I'm a chronic 'repeat' watcher...)

Because most of the funny stuff was funny because it was unexpected. Once you know it is coming, not so much. The dialogue wasn't very funny. Mostly of the "let's see how many different ways we can say fuck and shit." type. That is just cheap laughs and lazy writing and doesn't do anything for me.

Which is exactly why the Tom Cruise stuff got so old, so fast. He really should've just been limited to one or two scenes.
