I hadn't read any of the reviews and finally saw this last night. After reading the reviews it's obvious this is a love it or hate it. I really hated it. Very few laughs. I like dark comedy. I laughed my ass off at Bad Santa. Hangover is pretty dark and raunchy and I loved that. I think the lack of sympathy for Rogen was the main cause. I didn't like the guy and couldn't want him to be a police officer or succeed at anything. Michael Pena who I usually like was terrible. Anna Faris is always hot as hell but always acts like she's in a parody movie. I think Rogen did the movie just to do the humping scene.
Paul Blart was pretty bland and white bread compared to this but the main character I liked so I ended up enjoying the movie more.
The Blu-ray looked good just like a new movie should but I'm really glad this was a rental and not a blind buy.

I liked it - there is definitely no on the fence though like others have said. I was just expecting a much more serious crime which led to rogan becoming the hero when in fact, I got a psychotic comedy.
The last 10 minutes of this film are worth the wait as well......I mean, damn.

I thought it was funny as hell at the same time very on point with some of the disorders that some people in society suffer from. I have known people like Ronnie and it can be rough for people that live life like this.

I blind-bought it via the WB Shop sale (it hasn't shipped yet). I'm really intrigued due to the comments I've read regarding the film.

I think you need to learn what a dark comedy is. It's not just about wacky characters or taboo jokes, it's all about situations. Go watch Swimming with Sharks, Very Bad Things, Bad Santa and the greatest of all Dr. Strangelove, then tell me that The Hangover is a dark comedy.

Observe and Report was good, but not great dark comedy. The most common criticism is, "I didn't like the main character and didn't want to see him succeed." Well congratulations! You're not supposed to. He's a dangerous freak. I think it's also worth pointing out that the film is a satirical, but nevertheless very accurate portrait of the kinds of people who gravitate toward rent-a-cop jobs. Rent-a-cops are all crazy, with dominant authority issues.
