Considering they have a music videogame out, performed a song for Mission Impossible II and were played in Old School, The Pledge, Spawn, Biker Boyz, and The Darwin Awards ... it really isn't that big of a surprpise they licensed their music out. And while "major" in terms of gross, it's still a small movie by hollywood standards (

I wanna do Amber Heard so bad, I wouldn't care if it was post-Zombie.

it was fun, but nowhere as brilliant as 'Shaun of the Dead' - 'Shaun' also had better gore effects.

Pretty much my take, lacks the "brains" for lack of a better word that Shaun had. Surprisingly, it was Woody, who I typically can't stand on screen, who makes the movie stand out IMO. He's fantastic & basically I just want to see the further adventures of Tallahasee killing zombies. I also like that they gave his character some real heart with the
Spoiler:
reveal of it being his son that he lost
. Personally I would rather see Michael Cera, do Michael Cera, despite loving Adventureland, & the little love subplot felt very forced & cheezy. Still a damn fun movie that is very rewatchable. I would give the movie 3 & a half stars.

Re: Zombieland (Fleischer, 2009) — The Reviews Thread

I don't see many films in the theater so I'm sure this isn't a surprise to everyone else here but what in the world were all those little kids doing in my theater? There must have been 20 little kids (boys) I'd guess grades K thru 2nd watching that movie.

I thought it was a fantastic film, just as good as I had hoped it would be, but not exactly kids material. I know I'm turning into a bitter old man but am I that out of touch now????

Little kids have always wanted to see the adult stuff, no? Honestly, I dunno how the fuck they got in there unless some parents thought it'd be cool. Cool to be the kid though....

Yeah, it was several big groups. The "cool" dads taking his kid and friends I guess. You are right, great to be the kids that's for sure but I wonder what the other kid's parents thought when jr came home looking to play bash the zombie.

The movie does validate all my standing Z-day plans that include running off with the hot chick. Yeah, last man on earth indeed...

Thought the movie was great. I've been racking my brains since trying to think of a better cameo and nothing is topping BM. I don't think the love story was forced, they set it up from the beginning that he wants a girl in his life. Two girls come along and one would take the movie in a whole other direction.

4.5/5

IMDB spoiled the cameo big time for me, but it was still great.

It was a near perfect film for what it was shooting for, although it did drag a bit in the very end, almost anti-climatic I might say. The subtle nods to action films were great, and Woody Harrleson never ceases to entertain.

I did have a nerd moment, when Wichita said 'Anaconda' was her first 'R' movie. I muttered to my friend, "That movie was only PG-13."

Just got back from seeing this and thought it was great. It was a small audience (maybe 100?), but everybody seemed to be laughing at the same times.

I particularly thought the bit at the end where he shot the Twinkie box was great.

Only one nerd moment?? I was also bothered by
Spoiler:
not only the fact that amusement park rides would require one on the ground and one on the ride to operate, but the fact that "Blast Off", as far as I can tell, was backwards. Most rides like that go up slowly and drop fast, which, frankly, would have worked just as well for the movie's purposes.

I was also disappointed that they missed an obvious joke, because the writers are not as well-versed in their Ghostbusters love as I -- they said in an interview that their editor located the "Twinkie" scene in the movie and dropped it in, and they hadn't known. It's too bad, they could have had Wichita bring up Tallahassee's Twinkie fixation: "Tell him about the Twinkie." and then Bill would obviously reply "What about the Twinkie?"

Ruben Fleischer was saying on his Twitter that people pointed out Anaconda's PG-13 rating. You'd think someone at Sony would have pointed it out instead, since they own the movie, but whatever...

I enjoyed the film, but your post were exactly the points I was bitching about to my friends after the film when I saw it this past Monday night.

I know Jesse Eisenberg was doing the Michael Cera-shtick before Michael Cera, but I can't stand him as an actor. Just like Adventureland, I thought he was the film's weakest link and would've preferred Cera in both roles.

Not to nitpick but:
Spoiler:
The "Blast off" ride wasn't backwards. There are a ton of these rides that shoot you up at a high velocity and drop you back down. My favorite is the one at the top of the Stratosphere tower in Vegas.

Unrelated but did anyone else hear Witchita ask where "Florida" was instead of "Tallahassee" at the amusement park?
Am I nuts?

No, I heard that too. I don't think it's a big deal. It's not like she said, "Where's Georgia?"

She also refers to Jesse's character as "Ohio" at one point too. I think it was just her way of calling them by their "last" name. Like you would call your friend Jones as opposed to Scott.

That sounds like there should be a Zombieland Rule for hot zombies:

Rule #34: Tie her down and go to town
