I don't put a lot into reviews but this one may actually sway me to purchase this on VOD over the weekend instead of waiting for DVD. I enjoyed the first one for its goofy fun and gore sounds like this one will fit the bill as well.

I was surprised that my local theater didn't pick this one up. They had the poster up for quite a while. It's unlike them to not actually show what they advertise.

]You actually shoot the sequel in 3D say unlike the first, but that comment does not guarantee the film a wide release. A simultaneous theatrical and on-demand release guarantees the film in most likely 100 locations, if not less [...]
... and with my luck, it will probably not come to Vegas.

I really wanted to check it out in 3D this weekend, but I'll sadly view it another way.

Granted I'm no expert, but it seems like the release is too limited for this one. No theaters in Vegas or the entire state of NC (as mentioned above). That's a lot of people you're not reaching - especially since many of us prefer watching in theaters vs on demand.

Holy shit, they are testing true "Day and Date" with this movie. No ridiculous $30 charge or anything like that:

Dimension Films announced today that it is partnering with Starz Digital Media to offer up the sequel to the fish-ploitation pic Piranha 3DD on-demand and online in places like Amazon, iTunes and Xbox Live the same day as its theatrical release Friday. It marks the first time a 3D movie is taking the increasingly common day-and-date distribution route. Beginning tomorrow, Piranha 3DD will be available for a 48-hour VOD rental; $6.99 in standard and high definition, and $7.99 in 3D. The first film in the franchise made $25M domestic and $83.2 globally when it was released in August 2010. The sequel stars Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush and David Koechner.

This is Radius' first release, The Weinstein Company's "studio" that will send films out to theaters and on-demand (Amazon, iTunes, Zune Marketplace, etc) at the same time. IFC Films, Magnolia Pictures, and a few other independent studios have been doing this for ages for most of their films. This is the first time a major player is testing the waters with this distribution method, beating Fox to the punch by a few weeks.
... and to rustle your jimmies more, Refn's next film with Gosling (Only God Forgives) is a Radius release as well. So have fun trying to see that one in theaters.

For $7, I'll definitely order this on-demand. Shit, I'd have paid more for my wife and I to see it at the theater.

Me and friend are ordering it tonight, since he worked at the water park where it was filmed.

I don't see this on the playstation network, does anyone else?
Will it be on comcast on-demand?
Nevermind, it's on comcast on-demand.

Just watched it on PSN. Not as gory as the first but a lot more nudity. Hoff is pretty funny in it. Definitely worth a watch for fans of the original.

I wonder if Gulager had to edit the film for an R-rating similar to the Feast trilogy and that's what we're getting on VOD due to MPAA demands.
There's always a possibility for an unrated Blu-ray.

I was hoping to watch this one tonight, but I can't seem to find it on Fios. I'm a bit disappointed.

Well I enjoyed the first Piranha 3D as silly, gory, boobtastic fun, this one not so much. When David Hasselhoff is the best part of the movie it isn't really a great sign.
Definitely way less gory than the first movie, and quite a bit worse. All the carnage at the waterpark isn't as good as it was at the lake in the first movie, and there isn't an Elisabeth Shue or Adam Scott character (or even the main kid) to kinda get behind. Even though I do like Danielle Panabaker, she has nothing to do. The movie is pretty bad, but harmless since it is soo short (71 minutes, with 10 minutes of blooper reel padding with the credits).
Another highlight was
Wait for it on netflix instant if you must watch it, probably won;t take long to hit that.
