Relative sizes of Starships

Go and geek out: http://www.merzo.net/index.html

Very interesting.

I had no idea that Star Destroyers were that small... barely larger than the Enterprise-D. The Millennium Falcon also looks tiny compared to the old school Enterprise.

And those Babylon 5 ships are fucking huge... A Shadow vessel could cut through a fleet of Star Destroyers. Those White Stars are big, too, barely smaller than the old school Battlestar Galactica.

Relative sizes of spaceships, Flash Gordon-style:

(Not that it ever quite managed to leave the atmosphere. Never did actually see stars in those serials.)

Re: Relative sizes of Starships

Doesn't seem to include the Enterprise from the Star Trek reboot, which is supposedly bigger than the Enterprise-D.

I think you're looking at the Old Republic Star Destroyers from AOTC. The Imperial Star Destroyers are over a mile long and dwarf any Federation ships. The 1701-D is less than half a mile, and that's as big as Starfleet makes them.

Here are some much better charts where you can see everything together, and Federation ships are tiny specks compared to everything else. The 2009 Enterprise isn't even as big as a Shadow Scout vessel. (spoilerized for size)

Spoiler:

Re: Relative sizes of Starships

The chart Sean O'Hara posted shows the TOS Enterprise as 289 meters long, TNG Enterprise as 642 m, and the 2009 movie Enterprise as 366 m.

According to Memory Alpha, the 2009 movie Enterprise is 2 or 3 times larger, though no specific length seems to be agreed upon.

The finalized length of the Enterprise is portrayed as 725.35 meters in the Starships Blu-ray feature and Star Trek - The Art of the Film.
The length is stated as 718.4 meters in a CG Society article on ILM's visual effects work for the film.
ILM model supervisor Bruce Holcomb said that the Enterprise is 600 meters long in an interview for Studio Daily.
Experience the Enterprise claims the length is 760 meters.

Still cool though.

I don't think it's 100% current (couldn't find Destiny) but it looks like they have updated it from the original version I saw a few years back.

I'd like to see "mall map" versions of ship interiors....I wonder one where finds bathrooms on these things?

That's because the chart is at least a good 5 years old.

The size of the Executor class star destroyer is just retarded. What would you need all that ship for?

It's Darth Vader's personal Star Destroyer.

He very likely had his cock burned off after Obi Wan whooped his ass on Mustafar.

Sounds like the Dark Lord of Sith is compensating for something.

Captain Kirk got more tail in one week that Han Solo did in all the movies.

I thought the Enterprise would be bigger to accommodate all the wookys on board.

No, no, you're mixing it up. The Millenium Falcon needs to be bigger to hold all those Tribbles!

Whale Probe would easily dominate, followed by the Lexx. I miss Lexx... sigh.

Just to inject a serious note- work with me here- the 19K meters is a Lucasfilm decree. It was, originally, about 6 miles / 10K meters long until somebody decided "10 miles long" sounds better. (this decision was within the last five years or so)
